I Love Morden Rasp 2Follow

#1 Feb 18 2004 at 6:59 AM Rating: Default
Last night in EC:

A friendly gnome enchanter (of about 8 or 9th lvl) I got to know earlier told me I could loot a lions tail (needed for my clerics armor quest) near the rangers obelisk. At lvl 6 as a human at night this is a frightening way from the guarded huts in the east and as i got beaten up on the way twice I just have 1 bulb of mana left when >I arrived.

As soon as i finished looting I hear "Eeek - I'm poisoned" and this gnome runs up to me. In my panic I poison cure the lions corpse then target the gnome and see he's on 4% health. I cast cure and he sits down havin time for a joke: "The lion sure feels better too". I have just enough mana for 1 healing and the gnomes still unable to walk at more than crawling pace.

So I use up all my 20 bandages on him (never thought I'd use em), raise my skill to 7 and actually heal him up to 36%! Doing so while knowing that only his meager pet and sheer luck stands between us and a pile of red-conning lions, yound kodiaks and orcs that attack on sight if they stumble near us gave me a better adrenalin rush then anything on FV for the whole last month. Of course I got beaten up again on the way back twice - but my cleric survived and crafted a new part of her newbie armor :)

Did I mention I love playing on a new server?

That reminds me of when my warrior, Iseult, was young. She was my first character and I had hooked up with the Findel brothers, Kaganfindel and Rowenfindel (both still play, by the way, and I'm guilded with Kaganfindel. Old friendships are the best). The were crazy ranger boys, always wanting to try the hardest mob around just to see what would happen.

We were all around 20ish in North Karana and Kaganfindel pulled a griffenne, I think. One of the griffs, anyway, which turned out to be pretty hard for us. She tore into Kaganfindel and killed him, Iseult tanked her after that until Rowen got aggro (damn rangers). He was on the ground bleeding to death when Ise finally slew the beast and bandaged him back to conciousness.

Was an amazing fight.

Morden Rasp is no longer a virgin - in fact it got raped yesterday by a 38 level F*CKHEAD (obviously transferred) who farmed GOBLIN CAMPS in butcherblock.

btw: if I heal a mob that someone else is fighting does that take the mobs aggro on me? Because next time I meet any transferred a*sholes toon on Morden Rasp who is farming mobs that are way below his his lvl I will do everything to make things as ugly and unpleasant to him as I can.

You can't heal a mob. This is specifically to stop people griefing.

That sucks - I cant even train a 38 lvler in BB.....

Nor should you, training is more anti-social than farming greenies.

hmm

I love the new server too - just wish they would let guilds take off so I can get full enjoyment out of it.

It is a shame in some respects that Sony let people transfer to the server so early on but then, as we all know SoE are in it for the money and I suppose if someone is that desperate to part with £50 +vat to move here then they must have good reason too.

I wouldn't have thought it was in many of their interests as there is no money on the server yet. I suppose they want to farm the top end caverns etc - let them get on with it - won't stop me fishing ;)

Anyone know when they will start accepting guild memberships?

The idea behind Morden Rasp is to relieve some congestion and crowding on other servers. You're more likely to get people off the other servers and on to MR if they can bring their "real" characters instead of having them play there for a few days, level a ranger to 16, then go back to their 65/100 enchanter on their native server.

Besides, it's been a week already. If some transfer wasn't farming goblins, then some guy who levelled up into the 30's "naturally" would be doing so anyway.

You want to tell me that 30 lvlers usually farm goblins in BB? I always thought they do LDoN.....?

I don't even understand why you are so upset. I mean, someone farming low level mobs is kind of moronic, but it hardly seems malicious or anything unless they actually chase after you and ks greens just to enjoy griefing you. I think farming low level spawns is a huge, huge waste of time, but I don't know why you'd feel angry at someone that does it. What am I missing?

I'm saying lvl 30 levellers are often farming something.

The level 5's cry that the lvl 15's are farming the spiderlings
The level 15's cry that the lvl 30's are farming crag spiders
The level 30's cry that the lvl 50's are farming hill giants
The level 50's cry that the lvl 65's are farming nightstalkers

High xp grind zones are rarely excellent loot zones, so people grind up, decide they need new gear, and farm low level content with a high plat reward (be it via sellables, vendor drops or raw plat). If it wasn't a transfer, it could just as easily be some guy who levelled quickly and now decided he needed plat to buy some new armor or to work on his tradeskills to fashion his own armor or needed spell money or whatever.

What really pisses me of is that some 38 leveler who obviously payed 75$ or more(?) to get his dyed-plate armor clad toon on a server thats not even 7 days old to farm gobbos.

Thats like some perverted freak ************ in the middle of the mall for everyone to see. I'm just disgusted thats all.

But maybe in the world of EQ he's just an average player and I'm the freak *lol*

So what? Whether he leveled the char to that level or had him moved that is his choice. That person pays just as much as you do to play. Unless he is completely destroying your gaming then I don't see a problem. Hell I remember my monk holding the FBSS area in guk for a week just for the hell of it. Did it **** some people off? Yeah it did LOL but it didn't **** off the people who got free haste out of it...
