Yay! I start one this week Smiley: yippee

Well it was an interesting week all round. Lots to do IRL and lots happening in EQ too.

I left "Shards of Chaos" after giving them 100% dedication at weekends, recruiting and raid-leading. Differences of opinion with some officers and members became too much, a shame really. I really like so many members in SoC, I hope to see many around in game. But it seems my association with this guild is at an end.

My old guild had seen me leave because I cannot make most raids due to RL for the next few months. However after talking to the guild it seemed that making the raids I can is enough to justify a guild-tag Smiley: smile and so I have re-applied. I am having to serve the normal application process and hope so much that I am re-admitted to the guild. I managed to raid with them twice this week :)

Thursday (well not quite the weekend but its close) saw a series of firsts for "Forgotten Nemesis". Where a previous attempt had failed our raid forces went in and killed the Manaetic Behemoth in Plane of Innovation. A tough creature he is, but tougher is the Ranger and Wizard army that deals the burst damage Smiley: cool
The raid then wandered on to PonB where we attempted to slay Terris thule again. The last time we tried we only had 29 members flagged for PonB to try a kill, we did not expect much of what happened on the encounter and failed at 49%. This time she died in a flawless victory. Much planar flagging completed, 2 first kills and flawless. A great day for "Forgotten Nemesis".

Sunday saw my first venture into Vex Thal with the guild. I had never been on-line in all previous ventures to Vex Thal and so although this was an old-hat adventure for many, I was happily pressing F10 and taking copius screenshots of one of the prettiest EQ zones I have seen. The raid was enjoyable with some loots gained and some great fun with the pulls Smiley: smile. I could not help but think of the dungeon of "Dalnir" as we engaged the largest blob I have ever seen in Everquest!
We wiped after making some headway into Vex Thal and had to learn another lesson but every visit the guild pokes further in, learning how to park Coth mages and exploring the zone. I really look forward to more of this. People tell me Vex Thal is boring, I do not see it.
After we killed some Seru fellow in Sanctus Seru but that was not really interesting by comparison Smiley: laugh

Spent most time in trader mode. Played around with creating different toons on FV server. Finally decided to play a halfling cleric. Winjon is hunting in stonebrunt mnts at 35. Courtin is doing some small trade skill activities.
#3 Feb 16 2004 at 11:20 AM Rating: Decent
Not much in EQ. Did a little of the trader mode, got about 25% closer to 54 and that's about it.

In real life, I've been working every day for the past week. Got called in on my day off because the guy that was supposed to work today is in the hospital somewhere in Virginia. That's about it, I guess.

This is my first weekend update woohoo!!

Bit of a quiet one for me as my g/f was visiting for the weekend, but still managed to get a few hrs in:

Friday - Did a little bit of grinding in GoD, pretty tough zones from what i have seen so far, but they are looking good.

Saturday - Thought id start my cleric epic, im lvl 64 so its about time. So off i went to Lake Rathe for my first part (the camping of lord Bergurgle). Took me a while but i finally got to camp and waited, waited some more, kept killing the placeholder, waited some more. Finally gave up after a few hrs and went to bed.

Sunday - Still camping Lord bergurlge with no luck, so i have now decided to postpone my epic for a few weeks. Did an EF adventure, these are getting way to easy now in my opinion. Then did the had in for my PoTactics key and went to bed.

Thats about, a pretty dull weekend compared to most, but hey, these things have to be done!

Got through the fourth sewer trial in GoD on Friday, got into an excellent guild group on Saturday and knocked out the canyon trials (5 and 6), then went back and did sewer trials 1-3. Long day but a lot of fun, especially the canyon runs. Koztad (sp?), here I come.

Sunday morning we finished getting enough broken weapons to start the Weaponmaster ring. Also got a group of guild mates through a sewer trial.

Spent yesterday evening in Time, got the vengeance bracer to go with my haste hat - fear my druidic melee.

Anat was in field of bone all weekend. was trying to get to 15 so I could use my new spells but that just wasn't going to happen. Dinged 14 on Sunday then almost died from an invisible scorpion. (Apparently they live underground now or they have invis.) Couldn't target it since I couldn't see it so it soon had my pet dead. So hauled butt to Kurns & was down to 0hp when my shammy friend (who was meeting me there) healed me. Talk about a close call. This is the first bug I've encountered in game & was not real happy with it. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Mobs slipping under the earth is fairly common in some areas. Hill giants in Eastern Karana often fall under the mountains and can't be flushed out. You can use an AE to aggro them and then cast on them once they hit you and become a target, but they won't leave their subterranean lairs. Lake of Ill Omen used to be good for skeletons under the earth. They're aggro someone who'd naturally run to the windmill and train everyone there with an untouchable skeleton until finally someone nuked it down. Annoying.

Nothing much to report here. I'm semi-obessed now with the bard sword from Nadox. Not because I have any need of it, but I've killed about seventeen kajillion zombie trolls from sodden to war torn and have yet to even see the First Mate spawn, much less drop the sword. Nadox owes me!

Killed a couple epic dinks for guildies (Fay and Tangrin). Played around a little on Morden Rasp. Sold stuff in the Bazaar and almost have all my lvl 64 songs now for me to level (except Rizlona's since I'll be getting Call of the Muse at lvl 65 anyway.. already have the points banked).

Friday night - Spent the night PLing a RL friends (Empyres) Paly from 13 - 24 so he could do LDoNs on FV. Hopeing to get him up to raid level so we can play together again. I have been neglecting my baby ranger on TM (where i started out at and where most of Empyres toons are at) so he decided to roll a froggie paly. We started at Shiknars in pc till 17 then to NL and Trogs till 20 then to DSP and the shroom house till 24. all in all a good time with 11 levels in 8 hours.

Saturday - Raid to the hole. We were in the middle of Panieel when FV crashed. then suddenly my g/f car had to be taken in for emergancie service so i couldnt log back in for the rest of the day.

Sunday - Logged in and found Aadynn in a safe spot in the hole. (thank god because i didnt have root or gate up) Memmed Gate and ported out. Spent the rest of the day whoreing myself out in PoK P9ing people. made about 1600pp. Went to the baz befor i logged and bought allmost all the spells i think i will need. (read spent 40k... **************** all i need now is Bot9 and one or 2 more.....

Played some this weekend, nothing exciting.

One question for SoC though:

Why would SoC have a full raid force in the Hole?

Just wondering, seems like the hole would just require a couple people rather than a raid force... <shrug>

This weekend I finally got my necro up to 39. New spells and all, very nifty. Coming into a lot of power now.

Guild raid on Aerin'Dar was successful, and we even got keyed this time. A few earlier attempts were spoiled by people prematurely triggering the Planar Projection. I also realized I had all the parts for the BoT key, so did that turn-in. Got 3AA from flagging altogether (for cleric)

payzee - the Begurgle camp isn't that bad if there's a shammy there also clearing pops for the corrupted(?) for their epic.

Then to round of weekend in spectacular fashion my Boss from works drops a Bloodmetal Earring of engagement in my window and hits trade Smiley: boozing 3 upgrades in 1 weekend i feel so uber i now top 5500 HP and 1200 AC at 59 <With Virtue> which isn't bad IMHO.
Feel i must have please Brell Serilis at some point and he came good for me...... Maybe i should pay Tribute to him.

Well had an EQ filled weekend, my wife and I somehow got lost and put close to 14 hours in yesterday :P

Friday - Just did general playing, did a little bit of my n00b druid armor quest

Saturday - Valentines stuff for most of the day, but wife and I played some EQ after the festivities. Did some leveling with some RL friends I've got playing now. Was over all very fun.

Sunday - Ahhh, the 14 hour-a-thon. Finished my n00b quest. Did some leveling to get to 14. Played with friends. Killed more fiends then I care to remember in PC :P Had more fun then i've ever had in a MMO!

Just to answer the question about why we were in the Hole on a raid night.

It was apparently a holiday weekend in the US so numbers were low and we decided to do a quick trip for an epic fight and then on to a couple of other targets which we had scouted. When the server crashed it blew the plans away and we just about finished the epic fight by the end of the raid time. Not a wasted night by any means.

Not a stellar weekend on the Mith Marr server. Both Friday and Saturday several zones were down for unexplained reasons. Freeport and N Ro were down for a good part of Saturday. Unfortunately this is were I parked my mage, so I decided to spend some time working up a dark elf wizard in Lavastorm.

On Sunday server performance hit the dirt around 3:00pm and a guild raid had to be canceled. Everyone was going LD or taking around 3-5 minutes to zone. This lasted throughout the afternoon and well into the evening. You know there is a problem when HHK only has 4 player in it at 8:30pm.

Raids in GoD zones. Killed Cragbeest and started flagging process for KT. Killed the three boss mobs in Ferubi-very nice drops.

On Sunday we started Mountain trials. Server exceptionally laggy-many went LD with long waits for the log in server. All in all it was terrible. Set new one day high for CR/Rez at 8 deaths-most being attributed to a member of party going LD at crucial part of a fight. These mobs hit HARD and fast. The bright side is I can make the run from Natimbi to the trial start area in Barindu in my sleep!

Monday morning I had to do laundry so played got my necro to 32 inbetween loads. Then back to Barindu with my main for another stab at trials.

Spent most of the weekend offline, not by choice. The cable line outside my appartment is still a pile of slag. Made doing anything, even chatting with people in game, very problematic.

Spent most of the weekend upgrading various minor computer parts. Replaced my old usb 1.1 hub with a new 2.0 hub, dramatically speeding up several things. Added a bluetooth antenna, A KVM switch for my secondary and tertiary computer, replaced a couple of my surge protectors with a new APC one. Yeah, a surge protector, I know. But it was really cool, because it has 11 outlets 6 of which are Transformer block outlets so there is actually room enough to get everything plugged in. Any of you that are doing the highly dangerous "plug one power strip into the other one because I only have 2 outlets in range" thing, I highly reccommend that you don't do that anymore and look into one of those. Is worth it.

Regarding the SOC/FN thing. I don't have all the details from both sides, but it seems like there were some very petty things that occured on the SoC side that ended driving out one of the people I enjoy playing with on FV. hell, with the change to the guild charter, I don't even qualify for membership anymore. Not that it would really be a big loss if I wasn't there. I'll stop editorializing now.

Oh, and I barbiqued yesterday. Good stuff them Bratwursts!

Call it karma... I was back in Nadox last night, doing my rounds when I decided to try to farm a Hate Forged Pauldron for a friend and went to the Vehement room. Looked at track and saw, to some suprise, that the named guy in the statue room was up and proceeded to clear the Vehement room ASAP to give me space to kite. Just as I was finishing up and moving to pull the named, some necro started pulling. He didn't KS me or anything, he just got to it a moment or two before I did. So I frowned, decided to suck it up and went back downstairs. Kited the lower undead troll room and, ta DA! First Mate spawns and gives me a whack. A slash, actually, because he had the sword. Kill him, loot my sword and go to see what's up on the docks that I'd cleared. Decaying Fisherman was up, so I whacked him and got a Darkwater Pearl necklace which was actually an upgrade from my lame-tastic ribbon choker. Extended Range III is useless for my bard, but the stats beat what I used to have. I could have sold it, but the closest thing I saw for stats was some necklace of fire-licked links or whatever and it was 30k. I doubted I'd get 30k for the necklace so I'll just keep it. Nice to have it equipped since I killed for and looted it anyway.

So I lost one minor named and got a couple nice drops right after. Was a good night.

Shorrty (now 22) picked up a new weapon in the Bazaar, a Shissar Knight's Sword. Significantly better than his Zraxthril Forged Flamberge. Now he feels like a MAN (er, DWARF!). Add that to a new helm (Small Gothic Steel Hemet - 15AC) and face shield (Calcified Steel Visor - 10AC), and he's feelin' no pain. These additions were significant for me, since I play on Stromm and refuse to pay inflated prices. I think I paid about 300 pp total for those three items.

Shorrty's still hanging out in Unrest. Got into the Tower Room for the first time. Nice loot! Good group...

Miek (20 Ranger) discovered the Aviak Village in S. Karana. Nice place to hang out and hack away at the birds. AND, you can med ANYWHERE - the birds are too dumb to recognize you as a threat.

Mieke (20 Bard) and Kikl (20 Shaman) are on an extended vacation...

Down and out with a sinus infection - blissfully snoozing in Nyquil land...

Sunday

Conscious once again, sinus infection now turned into cold, so I figured, what the heck, I'll crawl over to my desk and get online.

No guild raid due to holiday, however, got into a terrific LDoN adventure.

Monday

Bunch of guildies got together and we hunted in the tunnels in PoJ - Myself and other guildie ding up a level (I made 53). Good times... Took a short nap, had dinner with wife and then we proceeded to play some Diablo 2 (her first time playing it). Ahh, it's nice to be married to a girl gamer...

How I love the tone off 'What was SoC doing in the Hole with a whole raid force'.

#24 Feb 18 2004 at 10:53 AM Rating: Decent
Actually there is an EXCELLENT reason for being in the hole with a raid force. I actually posted him on the message boards under Jennock's raid request target list which was apparently ignore/overlooked.

Guardian of the Seal
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=12914

Lvl 70 mob, a bit tougher than Vindi by most accounts, definatly a raid worthy target.

Quote:

Guardian of the Seal info:
-Quads 900's, Upper 600's in Defensive
-High ATK (Higher dps than Vindi!!!)
-Low HP, like 100k
-40% Slowable, Druid Debuffs land flawlessly
-Once down to 30%, he changes skin and starts grav fluxing, but with high enough MR, you can resist it. If you're a cleric, you can actually hide from this AE by cornering the guardian to the right and CHing from around the corner.

So yes there is a GOOD reason to have a raid force in the hole you buggers.

On the other hand we had a very nice 2.5 group Fear raid last night. Got a few nice epic drops, only deaths due to stupid deathtouch, very good weeknight run 8)
