Can't get this to work!Follow

I bought Everquest Trilogy yesterday and installed it last night. It ran the auto-updater and downloaded all the updated files. Here's the problem, whenever I try to play the program runs for about 15-20 sec and I hear a sound telling me that an error message has popped up. However, since I can't minimize EQ, I can't see what it says. I used task manager and it has a title saying "Everquest EQMAIN.DLL Error". I went on the website and did what it said, deleted the required files and updated to DirectX9. I don't know what this was supposed to do, since when I run EQ again the auto-updater just re-downloads the deleted files.

I have no idea how I am supposed to fix this, please help me if you can.

My firewall used to do that to me, it had a pop-up that informed me of an attack, and the pop-up knocked EQ for a loop. I turned off the 'notification' thingy, and was ok after that. another one is if you have an email package running (eg Outlook) with notification popup turned on, same affect, same fix.
