If anyone has info on the upcoming Monk nerf - it would be appreciated. I have not seen anything on it yet. Have not looked that hard either.

I read on another board that the monk was going to be getting another attack. But if they nerf it they might as well just remove the class altogether. I think it's got to be one of the least played classes already.

Monk lull was going to be changed to be resistable (like every other class that gets lull), but now it ain't.

Originally editorialized a bit more there than I needed to

But monks throwing a hissy fit that their pacify might have gotten "nerfed" where its resistable

Well you have to understand the fact that monks used to be a very cool class to play. Powerful attacks and great defense.

That went away. Recently, monks were found using Copper Hammers and Delightful orbs (in a monks hands, those are deadly). Look out! We are upping the proc to 55th level min. So what proc'd for my 50th (grabing a number) level now is useless until 55. That hurts the casual player that can't spend hours getting to 55. I agree that 35 was too low for the proc and I can't tell you what a happy medium would have been.

Seems like when ever there is a nerf, monks are involved. Look at a monk now...what would possibly appeal to me as a new player? Rogues, Rangers and now Berserkers out-damage monks. LDoN removed the monks ability to pull with the need to pacify over feign. Warriors and knights more than out tank a monk. Hell, I was in a adventure just last night where the Chanter was pulling. (Nothing against that but it proves the point.)

It was just a point that if you are going to remove power from a class because you believe it is too powerful, don't go to the extreme. IMO, monks are far underpowered compaired to ALL other melee classes. This ability to pacify is just to give a monk the job of pulling back. To nerf that would be to just eliminate the class.

Heh, well as long as you already jumped on what I edited out... in for an penny, in for a pound Smiley: grin

Again, I had NO problem with monks getting a lull. None. I do think an unresistable lull is a bit silly and the lull was not originally even intended to be unresistable. It went in that way as a bug, it was getting changed and monks started screaming about how they were getting nerfed and were entitled to a resist-proof lull for reperations to past nerfs. Sorry, I don't buy that. This isn't about if you can outtank warriors or if an item with a Rec. Lvl 55 no longer procs in the hands of your lvl 35. It's about lulls and how monks felt they deserve an unresistable one.

I love monk lull, but one of the big things I came upon when i was grouping with it was that yes it was unresistable but it seemed to have a lower lvl effect than the pally pacy and if I recall he was lower lvl than me(give or take a few lvls).
I am overjoyed by the addition though. sucks that they couldnt work out the other combat abilities but oh well. does still suck that we have to compete for dmg with rangers and rogues. but still its nothing that makes me not want to play my monk.

You're all forgetting some rather vital things about monk lull... the fact that it isn't nearly as good as the other ones out there, still.

Let's compare the 64 monk Phantom Call to the 62 Enchanter/65 Cleric Pacification.

Phantom:
Endurance: 250 (rather large, considering how few people have +end items compared to +mana)
Frenzy Radius 5/65
Reaction Radius 10/65
Recast Time: 20 seconds
Duration: 3 ticks (18 seconds)
Range: 150 (which is within aggro radius for quite a few mobs)

Paci:
Mana: 350
Frenzy Radius 1/65
Reaction Radius 1/65
Recast Time: 2.25 seconds
Duration: 7 ticks (42 seconds)
Range: 200 (just barely touches on the aggro range of SolRo mobs, though chanters/clerics get to use Extended Range 4 focii)

So basically, the chanter/cleric version can keep 18 mobs pacified at once before the first begins to wear off, while the monk can't even start pacifying a second before the first wears off.

Remind me again why people are whining about the monk ability being overpowered? All it does is give monks back some of what they were MEANT for. Pulling. Pre-Luclin, monks were (situation-dependant, of course) the best pullers out there. These days, and especially in PoP, monks have a rough time pulling in non-raid situations. Any pacify class can run in and pacify the whole room and come back with a single in 10 seconds, where a monk has to FD split them, sometimes waiting a good minute or two before the damn things reset.

You all take it upon yourselves to say monks are whiners. Maybe there's a good reason for it? Imagine if your cleric's heals became obsolete because a wizard could do it better. Imagine if your wizard's nukes became obsolete because an enchanter could nuke better. Imagine if your shaman's slows became obsolete because a rogue could do it better. Then you'd get an idea of what it's like to be a monk where an enchanter, cleric, paladin, ranger AND druid can all pull better than you.
