Ok, I am going to play EQ this weekend for the first time in what seems like months. I am going to hit GoD hardcore. I haven't been following the news. How do I get there, what friends shall I take?

Thank you.

1. Say "Nedaria's Landing" to any Magus at a wayfarer camp. Then say "Natimbi" to the Magus at the NL camp. There are decent in-game maps available for the zones connecting to Natimbi.

2. All of them.

Edited to add: take shrink potions or a shrinking device with you, and LOAD UP on invis and gate potions. You will need a slower, a good healer, and a second rezzer would be handy. Mobs don't have a ton of HP but they kick butt with great enthusiasm.

Can decent hunting be done with one group of VT/Ssra level peeps?

I think you'll find the word 'hardcore' to be much on its place... but yes, I think a VT geared group should be able to do one or two things there. :)

Well the entrance zone - Natimbi is listed with mobs from 42 upwards. If it takes 65's in VT gear to kill that then I guess the game balance has gone for good.

I'm hoping to nibble round the edges in mid-50's in normal gear.

You might like to note the other thread on the "mob you might not want to meet" for a flavour of raid targets in here.

You'll want a slower for sure - most mobs do pretty respectable damage for their level, but don't tend to mitigate slow. As far as where to hunt, I'd recommend riwwi or ferubi, depending on how strong your group is. Both of those zones have very rare random drops off trash spawns and the occasional named spawn that a single-group can kill. Ferubi is the tougher of the two zones.

Yipes!

A monk guildmate and I decided to nibble at the edges of Natimbi tonight. I know, insane class pairing. We were mostly just there to peek around. He's level 61 or 62, I'm level 60.

We saw a light blue mob and figured eh, how tough can it be? It was one of those spiney giant turtles.

Well, my friend was down to half health in no time and had to feign eventually. The mob chewed through my first pet fairly quickly & died with the 2nd one beating on him. I was tossing in nukes also.

The mob didn't seem to have extraordinary hp but he was hitting pretty hard.

The monk was trying to find info so I invised up and trotted around for a bit. There are some rather creepy looking mobs. I didn't go terribly far for fear of getting myself lost (which happens pretty easily.)

I'm looking forward to coming here with an actual group and doing some exploring.

Man, as a 52 beastlord, I managed to kill one of those spiny turtles in Natimbi. KEI, Virtue and my self buffs, these guys took a hefty bite out of my behind. If it wasn't for the some 1600 in heals from some kindly Necro I would've probably had to do a lengthy CR. Sha's Lethargy wouldn't land, but Listless Power, Venom of the Snake, and Frost Shard did. Was hitting me for about 200 each round plus would stomp on me for another 75. Nasty thing. Couldn't even loot because the sucker ran next to another turtle and my pet got wiped out (I had to chain heal my pet while it was tanking the first one just to keep up). Next time I go in there it's either at level 60+ or with a good group.
