i started playing EQ about 4 months ago after getting bored with pointlessly running around shooting at stuff on my PStation.
since then, I've soloed (mostly ;-) my human ranger up to lvl 15, around the qeynos hills, BB, Everfrost, and recently ventured into the karanas. i,ve managed to keep the skills maxed out as I go and I don't think I've annoyed too many people along the way.(maybe a couple of trains in Blackburrow.oops!!)
Ive bumped into some fine people, and some ****** and generally speaking had a fine ol' time, and some genuinly scary moments. (hill giants! for goodness sake, what IS their problem?).
I was given a couple of bits and pieces along the way by some kindly folk to supplement the junk I was wielding, and went off and killed a million bats, rats and spiders to get some Pine scout kit. british racing green isn't really my colour, but it felt good, and it made me feel like an achiever...
one thing that bothered me a bit, tho'. here i was, busy rangering, and doing my bit, and all the while wondering where everone was. After all, here i was in the middle of antonica and the place was almost deserted! Then while sitting around getting my breath back one afternoon, i got into conversation with a chap who asked me if I'd been to Luclin? 'No' I replied, 'wheres that?'
He told me all about it.
I immediatly went and sorted myself out some access to the fabled Luclin. (t'was on the way there that I met my first hill Giant! (You wait I'll be back to sort YOU out, y' bugger)After getting my bearings, off i trotted to the Bazaar.
THATS when it ALL became clear... No wonder I couldn't find anyone. just like a public holiday here on Earth.
EVERYONE HAS GONE SHOPPING!!!
well it cleared up that little mystery....
anyway there wasn't really a point to all this, except to say, i REALLY enjoy my time in my other body. I do wonder why so many people seem to moan so much, and complain about this and that and each other, but after spending some time in the Bazaar, I came to realise, that EQ is just an alternative reality, even down to peoples shopping habits......
So now I know, I'm back off to try out my new stuff, and learn some new things and hang out doing things that are generally frowned upon where I live normally, and THEN, when I'm a bit bigger and tougher, I'll hopefully bump into some of the BIG BOYS (& girls) and go off and tw@t some of the big monsters i seem to spend a lot of time running away from!!
So for now, Bom shankar, from Feadern (Kane Bale)
PS. picked up some nice kit in the bazaar, but could do with some more toilets! hehehe

Two more places to go to when you feel that hankerin' for some company;

Butcherblock Mountains Wayfarer's Camp. Its a rare time when there is not someone there trying to form a group to go adventuring in a LDoN.

And, Plane of Knowlege, this has surplanted the Nexus as the place to be "seen" in the world of EQ. Most people bind themselves here, and use it as the place to gather before raids, set up groups and a myriad of other things.

The "main" bank and the Nexus stone are two popular places. I do not recall ever going to the PoK bank and not finding at least a few people hanging around.

Question: "hill giants! for goodness sake, what IS their problem?"

Answer: "You have ruined your own lands, you will not ruin ours!" ;)

Sounds tacky, but basically true. You'll find out when you get to see how ruthlessly the Hill Giants are slaughtered in Rahte Mountains... On a rare day a Hill Giant can be happy to be alive for five minutes.

That tickled my funny bone.

I remember well my first trip to Luclin, (bound in shadowhaven (my first away from home). Guy took me there with one of his guilds druids. After a few nights in PC so I got soooo homesick for Oasis, I took 100 out of the 150pp I had in the bank and paid a druid to take me home:) - aye pre POP.

Maybe not the best place to meet folks, but since you're already hunting the Karanas, head over to the SplitPaw Lair in South Karana. Rangers are usually welcome in groups there (running doggies bring many friends) and you can gain some good xp and decent loot.

Be advised though, that these gnolls are not the pushovers that they are in Blackburrow. Going deep into Infected Paw is a little spooky the first time.
