OK, one of my Warrior's goals is to max all his fighting skills. I mean, really, what kind of warrior doesn't love using weapons?

I use 1HS & 2HS weapons a lot and both are maxed at level 29 (145). Other skills like Riposte are not a problem, nor are the non-melee skills.

I have only a few points in other skills including hand-to-hand (1), piercing (1), archery (3), 1HB (12), and 2HB (52).

I have some training points. I think about 70. Been saving those until I've got the whole thing figured out.

Now with that background, what should be my strategy to max all these skills? I need to ask because I worry I'm going to leave them all too far behind, as I gain experience levels, to allow skilling up.

Soloing is not an option because you can't skill up on greens; and with anything dangerous you get a dozen or twenty swings before you have to run, zone, or whatever. While I can group, use the crappy skills like 2HB and try to catch up, I don't get too many skills before I level, which makes it seem like I'm getting farther behind. Also, if I'm in a group & I'm just skilling a crap weapon skill that isn't very nice to my groupmates now is it?

If only you could just *Buy* training this wouldn't be an issue :(.

Anyway, advice appreciated. Do I not worry about it, it'll come, keep using the crap weapon skills? Is there some high-level mob that won't aggro when hit? Am I insane & should just use slashing weapons?

id not worry about maxing h2h until much later as a toy more then anything else.

this is what i do with my melee toons:

pick a class to keep as your prime class. ie 1hs for my warrior.

now every level put your 1hs in both hands. this will help with skill ups as you can get skill ups from both hands with DW and DA.

once i max my 1hs for that level, ill put in my 1hb, or piercer in my main hand, and my best ratio weapon in my off hand.

repeat until all skills are caped or i level. once my 1h skills are caped i then move to 2h skills.

few things. always put your fastest weapon for training in prime hand. the more times you swing, the more chances you have of a skill up. thus haste is a good thing. do not worry to much about your DPS at your level it sucks anyways so focus on skill ups with the fastest weapons you can get your hands on.

you will not be able to max out every skill until upper 30s mid 40s when your leveling will start to slow down a bit.

with the newbie scheme 1-10, and with places like PC and LDoN for low levels you will get xp to fast to cap your skills.

one other thing you can try as a warrior to max out your skills at 29th is hit OT and find a full group and ask them if you can beat on their mobs. do not taunt as you will get agro and watch for root type spells as if you are to close you will draw agro again. but this will alow you to melee DB-red cons and get skill ups even though you are not getting xp, and is something productive to do while waiting on a group.

i have yet to be turned down by a group for this action when i ask politly.

/say do you mind if i practice my (insert skill here) on your mob. i do not want the xp, and i could not KS your group. i just want to up my melee skills to make me a better tank.

99.9% of the time the group will say sure as it does nothing but give them more free DPS and thus faster xp for them. if they have a sham or chanter offer to donnate for haste. i would often donnate 50p for 1hr worth of haste to the groups sham/chanter. this way they need to keep just enough mana to keep you hasted as well as group.

As another tactic, I have maxed 1 & 2 HS on my ranger, so I throw a few points in to a neglected skill and wack away at mobs in my groups. I got 35 skill ups in a 53 LDoN group the other day in piercing. I was hasted to the bejeezus, and had Fo7th on. Don't know if dex helps or not with melee skill ups, but it can't hurt, right? I am keeping the piercer in the main hand for every pick-up group I do these days. When that is maxed, I will go to 1HB. When that is maxed, I will go to 2HB. I will probably never worry about H2H, unless, as suggested earlier, as a toy. Skill ups do go fast sometimes. Take advantage of it. :)

My comment will center on 2HB. Many melee, especially Warriors, seem to poo-poo 2HB. I don't know why, and it certainly does not fit in my experience. My Warrior picked up a 2HB at about level 8 and never looked back, it was a "Glowing Crook" I think, or the drop off Lockjaw anyway. By the time I had made level about 15 or so, and saved every penny, with 850pp in hand I was ready to upgrade, so off to the cave I went (no bazaar back then). I picked up a great deal on a Sol staff that proc'd. It was some kind of Battlestaff, 26/32 or so, and it had a fire proc that activated at level 36. By that time I was nearly maxed in 2HB, and the proc was great. In any event, I was outdamaging everyone around me very early on with this medium level staff. Many comments about my average looking staff came my way, until the battle started, then the damage output took over. 2HB seems to level fine at lower levels. At about level 40 or so, I did go get 2HS and 1HS weapons, and currently am maxed out in both. My 1HB is dissmal, but honestly, I dont think I really need it. I will never carry a shield I dont think, and 1HB generally does not support the kind of damage i need to keep aggro, only the 2HS do. I still use the 2HB, and with max strength and skill do very well in large groups. For my money, go get a good 2HB, one with a proc and skill up. i think you will be surprised at how well you do, and for lower level Warriors, get 2HB early, you can always level up in 2H and 1HS later, very fast, especially with a haste item. 2HB, its where the action is up to mid level or so, lol.

heres my advive. find a wep of each type with the fastest delay you can fins and then when you get in grps use the wep you have with teh lowest skill and lvl it up. if you are hasted you will skill up quicker too. i just got a greatstaff of thunder for my warrior which im using now to get up my 2hb which i kinda let lag a bit but because it has a fairly fast dely i should skill up quick.

Also remember that when go to your trainer to use training points it's gonna cost you. The lowest skill will cost you the least to raise but check and see first so you know what you can afford.
