New Trade Skill Interface - A QuestionFollow

After experimenting with this new addition I noticed that it doesnt show all recipes, rather "known" recipes. For example if I wanted to look at the Artic Wyvern Armor which is fairly high in tailoring skill its not listed? My tailoring is around 160 so I should be aware of that ? Anyhow I guess my question is... How can I gain more recipes to my trade database, if at all?

Thanks

I think the interface only "opens up" the recipes that are reasonably within your skill level. If your desired recipe is too far out of your reach you have to do the combine the old fashioned way.

Not sure how they figure "within reach" and "too hard"; I'm sure it's a percentage but I don't know exactly.

MY 35 in smithing opened up all the way to 55. however my 115 would not open 145 in tailoring. Therefore it is safe to assume it is not a percent but rather a set ammount(20 or 25)

I guess SOE doesn't want to make it easy for people to start a trade skill with a recipe that trivs on 50 or 100 or whatever above 25(?) - althogh I don't se much sense in that incentive to produce crap by the trivial list....

There are still some bugs in the interface. I didn't have the recipe for Sow's potions (trivial 37), and my skill in Alchemy is 105. The way it is "suppose" to work is that once you have made one combine you then "know" the recipe and can use the new UI. This worked for me w/ Pottery, one combine and poof there was the memorized recipe. But not with Alchemy. I made at least 5, 10 Dose potions and still I don't know the recipe.

You think Sony could at the very least include the most useful potion in the known recipes when it's trivial is 68 points below my skill level.

Hopefully this will be taken care of in the upcoming patches.

There are 3 possible flags in the serverside recipe database:

Default - These items Do not show up in your tradeskill UI and cannot be learned. This is the same as no flag at all

AutoLearn - These items automatically show up in the UI when you are near the trivial for them. You can also search for these recipes. The limit that can be displayed in the UI is 100 recipies. So if you dont see your recipe narrow your trivial range

CanLearn - These items will not show up in your UI until you do a successfull combine. You will then get a message that you have learned the recipe

SOE is currently going through their database and flagging items as either autolearn or canlearn. When they are finished expect most items to show up in one of these catagories.

How about recipes from a certain expansion if you don't have it?

Is it just me or did they nerf the skill ups on trade skills? I did about 150 combines and only got 2 skill ups??

Nope, I can be that way, depending on the trival.

I skilled from 0 to 50 in jewelcraft last night and it went pretty quickly. Is your wis/int maxxed? Were you working on recipies that were close to your skill level?

There are times when skill points come painfully few and far between. Times when one can go so long without gaining a skill point that one thinks "surely this is broken."

Then your next 3 skill ups come right on top of each other.

Well I can tell you the alchemy interface really really stinks. I make a ton of potions and from Blood of the wolf to Ant's and Titans and Kilvas, and the "greater" potions for statistics, and the port potions, not ONE of them is included or was learned.

It gives me a bunch of recipes I never use and the ones I use ALL the time are missing.

Thank you again SOE, for your half-a$$ed job Smiley: disappointed

/agree with Kelti, I make Sow potions almost every day. Who at Sony thought that we would rather have 6 recipes for "Black Extract" than the potion that is made more often than any other. It boggles the mind, the stuff that SOE lets fall through the cracks.

open any tradeskill container to get the new UI. IF that doesn't work then hold down Ctrl and right click the container to open it

I found that if you manually do a tradeskill combine it will say "you have learned a new recipe" then close the window and go back into it and the recipe will be there. Then add it to your favorites. My example was silver tip arrows, which are not listed for some reason with 200 skill. Maybe this will get fixed so that all recipes will be added.

This worked for me with pottery. I learned several new recipes.

But not with Alchemy. /sigh

The new Tradeskill interface is just magic! (Excuse the pun Smiley: smile) I love it.

It ranks up there with cartography, the raid window and the LFG window as the best new features introduced to the game.

Halfling cultural seems left out with Patch of Dire Wolf Fur and Woven Dire Wolf Fur. /bugged

But also sent a message encouraging them, this new interface is excellent and when fully implemented everyone will gasp at the old man stories of manually clicking in combines and laugh at the old days. :-)

WTG Sony!

My favorite arrow right now is a class 2 wood point arrow that I might with a small nock - the only recipes for class 2 wood point arrows (there are 2) use a medium nock - which has a shorter range. I made 300 of my recipes yesterday and, surprise, I did not get that recipe in my list. When I right click on these arrows they are identified as Class 2 wood point, so I'm fairly sure that the game must recognize this as a valid recipe.

Guess I need to do the /bug also.

I had exactly the opposite experience.

I use deluxe toolboxes as a cheap 10-slot giant container instead of bags.

After the initial shock of right-clicking my box (toolbox!) and seeing it empty - like where did all my gear go!!

I found how to get it to open as a container and my stuff was still there - phew. Rather begs the question of whether you could combine in the apparently empty spaces shown when opened in the new TS UI if the box slots were actually full.

However. I am not as far as I am aware a Gnome. I have never tinkered in my life.

In an idle moment I clicked the "Show Recipes" button and was shown an enormous list of tinkering recipes complete with their trivials and several with trivials way over 200 (shown in yellow).

I know that non-gnomes can tinker with virtually no hope of success and no hope at all of skill up but why I at skill zero I was being offered Rebreather recipe astounded me.

It does rather put an end to the trial and error work of EQTraders on trivials when the interface just up and shows them.

And it broke my custom UI and I am condemned to using the default until I find a replacement /cry
