Forlorn EQers!!! Seek Refuge Here!!!Follow

Hello all :)

So the server's down. And yes, they said nine hours, but we all know when SOE says a nine hour patch you take that number, divide by two (9/2=4.5), add that to the original scheduled downtime for intitial crashes of players flooding back onto the servers (9+4.5=13.5), and then throw in a couple more small numbers for re-patch and patching of the re-patch and patch patch patchity of the third patchowa and what not (13.5+2.4+1.3+2.7=too damn long). SO, in order to save my fellow Norrathians from the pits of despair and chaos, I present to you...

drum roll please...

--=+This Thread+=--

cue the falling of rosebuds, the blasting of trumpets and maidens throwing themselves at me...Hehe.

So let's get down to it! Come here and talk about whatever you want (everything except any kind of posts that has to do with that cursed "gay or not gay" thread...Argh!) But mainly this is for all of us sitting here filling the forums while we wait for SOE to ***** up Norrath, so let's stick to the game, eh? GoD (inflamatory or not welcome :) ), patching, toons, the first thing you're going to do when you log back in, the color of your hot female dark elf's skivvies (Ooooh ;P)...All is welcome! Post away!

Anyone need anything while I am there? LOL

Excuse me but what game have you been playing? The last 2 expansions have been added almost seamlessly. What you suggest would have been true 2-3 years ago. Will the patch for the expansion and the other things going active with this patch be done exactly in 9 hours. No, that is ridiculous to think this will happen. However, I would say + or - 1 hour is a realistic assumption as to when the patch is completed.

First of all, it was a "slight" exaggeration, all in the means of a laugh, although not totally uncomprehensible. Secondly, don't be such a tight@$$ :)

Juuust kidding!

Keep 'em coming!

Tomorrow when the servers come back up I'll do what I always do. I'll log on and watch my toon get wasted in 3 seconds becuase I happened to be on that lvl 50 mob spawn point when the server went down and now he's half way up my woo woo before my screen gets loaded.

Then I'll wander around begging for a sow for cr becuase I'm bound on the other side of the world and the only PoK book is 5 zones over through stupid brownies and gnoles who haven't eaten in several weeks.

Then after I've dropped 3 lvls in xp, I'll eventually find my corpse drag it to safety, start looting and then get the popular "You've been disconnected from the server" message.

Here's hoping I was far enough away this time to survive.

All in jest (however it has happened).

I'll probably get on and start making some stuff to help flood the market with. Add to the moral decay of society or perhaps just run around starting trains so I can watch the low level guys get stuck and die.

So how about you?

Wouldn't you know I got rained out of work today =( and no xtra EQ. I guess when I get on tonight I'll try and raise my smithing to make a pot and pie tin. Then I'll keep farming supplies for the 3rd shawl quest. Damn those snow griffins and where the hell are all the Ulthorks??

join and moderate every channel on my server from the eq im, sit back and boot people from channels all day :). log my druid on my other computer, go sit on the pok books in every zone i can think of, cast tree form on myself and /d one of my friends......leave the leafy corpse there on the book. then log my necromancer and go to L guk and charm the supplier or assasin a group is waiting to kill, when it or they spawn. voice graft the mob, and then tell the players i am a holy frog soul trapped in the body of this evil undead frog, and that if they help me by giving me pp, so i can pay a cleric to cast remove greater curse from my wretched soul, i will go talk to my homeboy frenzy and get them all an fbss... wait for them to pay the charmed mob, and then fd and watch..... ummmm.... whatelse can i do.
find a way into CS home and rearange the gm's furniture, eat thier porage, sit in thier chairs, and sleep in thier beds.

the end.

Azsh
' . '

OH i almost forgot!!!

I can then go get a link of a pot, and a link of the spell grow and run around different zones, shouting, WTS Spell:Growpot

Since I can't stand the project work I'm currently doing at the bank right now I need to take a little break. My main computer at home is toast, and I'm waiting for some new hard disks to arrive from CDW. Because I had nothing better to do last night I did a little reading on EQ2 (using my ancient laptop). There are some aspects that look interesting, but there are some areas of concern. What are your thoughts?

1) I'm not to keen on the idea of archtypes. As an old AD&D player not playing your class immidiately from the start goes against the grain. Maybe I'm just being prejudice based upon what I'm used to. The new archtypes may lead people to perform character development, but it seems a little strange that you have to wait until level 20 to really begin playing your class. If you want to be a shadow knight you are forced along the following track: peasant (lvl 1), warrior (lvl 3), crusader (lvl 10), and shadow knight (lvl 20). Does this mean you don't get any spells until level 20? Does this mean prior to level 20 for all effective purposes you are a pure fighter? Since levels in EQ2 are capped at 50, does this mean for 40% of your character's life is spent truely not playing your class? This percentage seems a little high.

2) What happened to tradeskills! They created the new archtype called Artisan and it looks like in order to do tradeskills you must choose this class. Can the lowely fighter never learn blacksmithing? Does this mean in order to earn cash our only alternative is to hack and slash everything in site?

3) Once you have engaged a mob you are now locked into combat, where others can not kill steal (or assist you unless you yell for help - and gain less XP). When you engage in combat you now move slower although the mob can operate at full speed. This was done intentionally to prevent kiting and balancing the classes, but does this actually give the mobs and unfair advantage? Will this make mobs harder to kill because they can more easily run away (or gang up because you can't move out of aggro range fast enough)?

Alright, well I've read a little about EQ2, although not enough to get into the archetypes you're speaking of. But I'm gonna' give my opinion based on what you wrote...

1.)I don't like this. It seems like I take damn near 40% of my toon's (potential) life at the character creation screen figuring out attributes, picking the perfect class and then balancing it against a race, putting skill points where I think they should be...Then resetting the damned thing and starting from scratch to make sure I have the perfect setup I want. When I finally do finish creating my toon, I'm ready to start with that toon, not wait 20 levels until I can start getting down to business.

2.)Personally, I've never really used tradeskills too much, so I'm not as nervous about this. However, I always did enjoy the reassurance of knowing that if I ever needed or wanted to start seriously learning a tradeskill that I had that option. And secondly, what's the damned artisian gonna' do to mobs, stick 'em with his paintbrush and throw his deadly sewing needles :P (j/k)

3.)This sounds like bad times. That's all I got to say about that

here's what I did..got 8 eggs total and made 2 souffles in 2 days. (this is assuming you can track) Bind on the platform that has entrance to Dragon Nec. from there you can track (even as bard or druid) all 3 griffon spawns. If you dont have track, standing on the platform, 2 will spawn a little north of the platform and a 3rd SouthEast a ways over a hill or two. I had a mage with me and would pull everything in sight (about 20-30 mobs at a time), then pull them in and kite them around while the mage picked them off one by one. usually didnt take long before a griffon or two would spawn. elders drop eggs more often.

I got really REALLY sick last night and today. prolly gonna get off early and GoD will be in the mail when I get home (although gf has mailkey and wont get home til 5! doh!)...so once she gets home if I've got the energy I'll install it but am afraid I wont be playing it much until next week (Valentines Day and all).

First thing I am going to do will either be kill Quillmane or Stormfeather, I have been after them for a while and they have eluded me completely. Can anyone tell me if these two creatures spawn on server reset. If they don't I think I will make as many Minitaur Hero Brews and run around PoK sowed, levitating, and drunk : )
