Shall I move or stay a while?Follow

I am currently in a guild that is raiding old world stuff and lower pop stuff. we are levels 50 to 65. this is my first guild and i like them very much.

i have been with them and raiding since September, and raid 3/4 times a week. I like raiding and am always learning. In my whole time raiding with the guild i have never seen a bst item, and so have amassed a lot of points ( i havent spent any ).

Recently we have been doing BoT towers but still havent seen any items. I did miss one BoT raid where there were 2 bst items.

I want to leave this guild, and a stronger guild is recruiting atm, they are all 65's and are one step higher than us (NToV and TT).

Now i realise raid items arent everything, they play a small part in raiding (though they are essential for progression). Recruiting for this other guild may soon close, and beastlord recruiting is low for them, so shall i leave my guild now and apply to them, or shall i wait a little longer so i can have the chance to use my points?

I know this may sound a stupid question to some, but i am in 2 minds as to what to do

thank you

How well acquainted are you with the officers/Guild leader? I would mention to them your concerns/problems and tell them what you are looking for in the game. They may give you some helpful insight or tell you to take a walk. Either way, tell them how you feel and let them help you make your decision.

This also will leave you in good standings with them in the future in case you ever need them.

Be warned not to fall for the old "greener grass". I have seen too many people move on to what they thought was better, only to have the grass die completely after they got there.

Don't stay with your current guild just to spend the points. If you really want to leave, then just do it. There is nothing worse than someone using their guild as a "stepping stone" for their own personal gain.

You know, I half thought that, but at the same time he earned those points. It's not as if his guild assigned him some great armor because they thought he'd always be there for the guild. Saying he shouldn't use his points because he's leaving is kind of like saying I shouldn't pick up my last paycheck when I quit my job.

I know the GL quite well and all officers of my current guild. If i approach him and say i want to raid more often and higher targets, and raid when called to raid instead of set times, he will try and persuade me to stay, and then i will feel guiltry about leaving. He will say we need you, he will say we will raid those targets eventually.

I have the same concerns about the RP. If i just stay and use them at the earliest opportunity, then leave it may look bad on me, on the otherhand i have earnt those points and i see it as points/time down the drain to some extent.

I wasn't saying he shouldn't use his points. I was merely saying that staying in the guild and waiting for the opportunity to use the points and then up and leave would not be the right thing to do. It's kinda like saying "Hey!! I helped everyone else get their epics. I am gonna make them get me mine and then off to such and such guild I will go."

Maybe I am just not explaining myself right. If you are gonna stay or if you are gonna leave, do it for the right reasons. And make sure those reasons are your own and not someone elses.

Good Luck in your descision. It is not always an easy one to make.

I can imagine it's a tough decision. I'd say make it based on why you play EQ.

If you play EQ to be l337, uber, and get phat lewts, you'll never be satisfied until you are in your server's top guild. Until you are, there will always be greener pastures. If this is what you want, switch guilds. And don't get too comfortable in your new guild either - you'll be leaving them soon enough when the next uber guild takes apps.

If you play EQ for friends you make, to enjoy the challenge regardless of your level and guild size, and see loot as only a means to an end instead of an end itself, then you'll be making a mistake to leave.

Neither answer is a clear cut right or wrong, but simply up to the individual. You matching your guild is just as important as the guild matching you. If your guild is more laid-back, "Family", or just into having fun over hardcore raiding, and you want to push you game to the extreme, both in terms of raid targets and loot, you aren't going to be happy. It's best for both you and your guild for you to go elsewhere.

But I must warn you - if you leave, don't expect much sympathy from your old guild. Oftentimes guild members and leadership can feel betrayed when members leave for a "more uber" guild. If things don't work out for you in the new guild, don't expect a warm welcome back into your old guild where all your friends are. They might just as easily turn their back on you, feeling justified in their actions.

Honestly, why don't you try something else first if you really like your current guild? Try talking with your guild leadership and let them know you feel you're a little lacking in the gear department. Point out specific raids you would like to try which would let you get gear and spend your points, that are within your guild's strength. Then, read up on the raids and offer to lead them! Personally, its a lot more enjoyable to be an active part in a fun guild with players I really like than to leapfrog between guilds hoping to get better gear. But that's how I play and what I spend my $13 a month on. You need to decide what you want out of your $13 then pursue it.
