what are other people's opinions on this? do you think that one twinked character should be able to keep a good xp camp when there are 6 people that want to share the xp in it? or what do people think if that person refuses to join a group of 5 even though they'd still get xp for it? i personally feel that people should share the experience, as it is selfish to keep a popular camp just to yourself.

just my thoughts,

I would think such a person greedy but I respect first comers no matter who or what they are.

Maybe once upon a time I would have worried about the one guy holding up the xp for six people, but with travel a trivial issue today, I have to say "go somewhere else". 95% of the world is unpopulated these days, so it's hard to find much sympathy for someone who'd rather stand around in Zone A and cry instead of going to Zone B and getting their groove on.

What's more, for every "good xp" camp (usually in an outdoor zone) being taken there's probably an entire dungeon of the same level, with a better ZEM, sitting unused that you could crawl through and kill nonstop. Dust your boots off, wave goodbye to Mr. Selfish Twink, and get moving.

Well, there are simply neither rules nor guidelines for camping.

Personally I have to admit that one afternoon while the WHOLE of EC AND North Ro was camped I decided to move on to Faydwer - and so a whole new world opened itself to me.

So Jophiel is probably right in telling you betwen the lines to take such an occassion as a reason to browse through the map of Norrath looking for a place you have never been too before. Being in a group means anyway you could more easily risk a trip into the unknown than any soloer - twinked or not.

I have to agree with Jophiel. Was a time when this would be a problem becausse to get to another zone your level required purchasing ports for everyone or *shudder* riding on the boat. Now, move on, take a book and find something else.

Today there are cool places no one even knows about. The last two low lvls I brought up, when they reached the right low lv I asked the people I was grouping with if they wanted to go to Befallen. "Where's that?" was the general reply. So I took them. They had no idea it existed and thought it was very cool. Befallen used to be packed and hard to manage because people would ***** up down below and train big bad mobs up on the low lvls. If you have an 11-15 character, go there now. It is empty. Sometimes a higher lvl there to get a quest item, which can mean some cool buffs for your little toon. But befallen empty is a new experience and is very fun. No trains, just manage your situation.

Another good place that is often overlooked is Najena. Lots of fun to be had there. In general, look at the old world low lvl zones and dungeons. There are forgotten places that can be very rewarding to try if there is a twink camping your one and only favorite hunting spot.

First come first serve is the one and only rule that SoE adhere to when called out on camping issues, that said if a twink is taking a whole camp solo he will not be there for very long so move on find another camp and chill out he'll be gone before you know it.

On a side issue unless a twink is getting a PL it is in his interest to have a full group since the xp would be better anyway and he could take more mobs down at a higher lvl. you see this in PC all the time and it seems to work.

This can and does breed rude ignorant people however and that i cannot abide.

The answer here is simple. Who was there first? That person, or people, gets the camp. Move on, getover it. Smiley: tongue

There are enough experience camps in everquest. Go find another if a camp is taken, if it is taken by one person or 6 it does not matter. Camp is taken, move on.
If no good xp camps are up, go quest or have fun in a old world zone. You would not beleive how much fun soloing Sebillis is with headshot Smiley: cool
I hate conflict and see no need for it in EQ unless you are really silly about the game.

However saying this ....

Most twinks I know (and my PL'd alts) have always ground experience in out of the way places. Uguk, SolB, CoM, Sebillis etc. Still good xp but hardly anyone else goes there. This way, yes one person has a camp that used to be held by 6 people, but no one cares Smiley: smile

SoE policy on camping is this:

You MUST share. In may day I have seen this many times, and GMs called. Always the same thing, both share, or the will move everyone.

I have to agree with the above, just move on.

Selfish? Maybe, but its not worth the hassle. :-)

There is no camp ownership. If you are there first, or the hundredth person at a camp, you have just as much right to pull as the anyone else. Nothing I hate more about EQ than the "I'm here first" camp mentality. Makes me want to go back to DAOC.

I don't mind sharing a camp, but at least have the sense to not stand in the pulling path. I've been in wide open zones like DSP where there can be several nice places to pull from and another group just comes and sits right next to us, and then complains when they get "trained" from our pulls.

Game on,

Says the rules. Game ettiquite says otherwise and most people, even the dinks, tend to respect that. You're free to say "Nuh uh! It's not just your camp!" but most people will view you as rude (at best) or a poorly rationalized camp jumper and a-hole (at worst).

I can't imagine calling in a GM and wasting their time over a playground dispute like who gets the camp. It's almost always better, both on the nerves and better xp, to just find a new spot than to spend an hour trying to outpull each other and exchanging snippy comments while you wait for the GM to arrive.

i agree with the majority here. if someone is at a camp just move on. its rude to try and move in on them and there are plenty of other places to play. the other day I took my freshly leveled L24 necro to LOIO and grouped with 5 other people at the sarnak fort. we fought into the fort and held ground just outside Chancellors throne room. now with the respawns there in the fort, holding that spot with a mid-20s group was INSANE..and fun. I got over a complete level in an hour of playing there.

we even took a swipe at the chancellor. he mopped the floor with us...primarily because the shaman gated out (grr)...but i logged in the druid and whacked him then gave the people that stuck around to help recover a roll on the jade prod.

there is plenty of fun to be had...and exp to go along with it. just gotta find some people who are in it for fun and go looking for it.

Whoever has the camp first should get it -- whether it is 1 person solo'ing it or a 14 person raid of 20 somethings.

It does not make the solo'er greedy. There are very many camps all over Everquest that the group could move to. Staying to squabble with a solo'er isn't the smartest thing a person could do -- and won't get them any closer to level either.

And though there really *aren't* such things as camps in Everquest, there is such a thing as common courtesy... and I'd hope that everyone is willing to excerise it.

Depending on the camp, and how fast the soloer is killing, it may well be possible to share the camp. Ask politely, and you may well be able to work out sub-camps. Just be sure that pulls dont' get out of hand, or if they do, you help those sharing your camp with rezzes, re-buffs, or whatever.

If the first person/group there isn't willing to share...well, like everyone else has said, just move on. Official policy may be that you have just as much right to pull from that area as anyone else, but etiquette says otherwise. And besides....the person you **** off today may be the only person who could help with a CR tomorrow (or be the cause of it!)

If you're there for a particular item, whether it's part of a quest or just something you want, ask the person/people there if they'll let you know when it drops or (if they're there for the same thing) to let you know when they leave.

If you're hunting for experience then as many have said already it is perfectly feasible to find another, less crowded exp camp and it's a good chance to break out of a rut and explore as well.

Back in the day when Dreadlands/KC was the "natural" progression of things, I got tired of having Gorenaire on one side of the KC zone and Venril Sathir on the other. I gathered up my group and told them, "We're heading out to the Hole, give it half an hour and if you hate it I'll bring you back and drop you off." No one else had been there; past the zone in it was completely empty; we had a BLAST.
