best newbie duo ?? (wife wants to play yay)Follow

My wife finally wants to start playing EQ with me after 4 years. After reading about the classes she chose Var Shir shaman, what will best compliment her in the early game? I dont care about the end game because when/if we get high enough she will group with my main, a cleric.

So, what class partnered with a shaman will provide he best bang for the buck early in the game so she will have fun.

I forgot, unless there is no other option I dislike melee classes and would highly prefer a caster/pet class or hybrid, unless none of those would work.

Many thanks for your opinions.

Well, as a young shammy, I have to tell you my favorite partners were the melee classes. No Temp then however. With temp, I would think almost any class would be acceptable, that you like to play, because it gives so much more hp you can take hits and live. Temp is wonderful! At low levels it is much easier for the shammy to tank if needed.

This is just my opinion of course.

A ranger or Pally would probably be an ideal counterpart in the early game. Tracking, Sow at 30, a bit of melee and a bit of magic. That or maybe a bard if you wnated to try something different.

Monk/shaman is still one of my favorite combinations, and I'm finding ranger/shaman to be very effective at least in the low levels.

However, if you really want a caster and/or pet class I'd go mage/shaman.

I 2-box ranger/shaman. It rocks. My ranger is buffed up the ying-yang at all times. Plus, shaman never worries about getting agro. Killer.. do it up.

I know that a Shaman and a Monk used to be a very good duo, I don't know if this still holds true since monks are now very big mana sponges. Can anyone varify if this duo is still good?

How about an enchanter. You will then have no problems getting in groups together.
If not think beastlord. Yes your spells overlap, but you can both be vah shir in game.

We have a Pally/Cleric Duo. Seems to work well for us. Gotten us to 40 with very little infighting :).

Seems to me you would almost need a melee class to go with Healer/Buffer... JMO

Go with a ranger - she'll like the ability for you to help her find specific things to kill (or avoid) quickly.
