A Ranger......Needs To Lose Weight.......Follow

******NEWSFLASH********

"Due to the continued high spending across the whole of Norrath in the last quarter, the current inflation rate has risen by 5%. This has been effected mainly by Dwarves paying huge amounts for the new craze of beard plaiting and beading. There has also been a marked increase in the number of trolls and agres spending money on body hygiene products!! The Bank of Norrath has no option but to put up interest rates to combat the rising inflation rate"

Alas, for our poor hero this meant a monthly increase of 20 plats on the monthly mortgage payments for his lovely home Ruts Retreat in Surefall Glades. Faced with this shortage of funds, and his wife flatly refusing to downsize and having to move with the dross at Black Burrow Close, he had no option but to pull double shifts at the local loot and scoot factory and so having to kill more mobs for dosh.

Faced with the prospect of more journeys back and forth to the city and vendors, what Rut really wanted was one of those super duper magic bags with weight reduction properties, meaning he could carry more.

Armed with about 80 plat he wandered off to the Bazaar but could not find any traders offering these type of goods. Had he come on a bad day or was there another way of getting hold of one such as taking time out to do a bit of questing??

And so with a quick prayer to the God of Forums he cast he query to the stars!!

80pp would be better spent on an item with some strength. A couple of jagged bands perhaps. 10% weight reduction bags, I don't believe them to be worth thier money. I would rather have one Rallic pack then 8-10% reduction bags.

I agree that if you only have 80pp, you can find better things to spend it on (or save it for) than a 10% WR bag; which is all you're going to get for 80pp.

You can however get two weight reducing bags easily yourself. One is the Shaman Pouch from the Warrens (6-slot, medium, 10%WR) which drops randomly off of shaman type kobolds. Just go to the Warrens and kill until one drops. You can also still solo in the zone, but even if you find that a challenge, the lesser shamans are a green con and easy to farm.

The other is quested in Gukta and involves delivering four rusty weapons. The bag itself weighs a bit though so it's a toss up whether or not it's worth it. Check out the Gukta quests on this site for it and see the reward for yourself.

There's also questable packs out of Ak'Anon and Rivervale, but both are random rewards so I won't get into them here.

Highland Kobold Shamen in Stonebrunt also drop sometimes a 6 slot large WR bag. I forget the % but it's free. All you gotta do is kill the bastards. Plus, gorillas and pandas have uncommon drops of gems. Last night passing through to Gunthak I picked up 2 dots, an emerald, a black pearl and jade.

The kobolds in Stonebrunt drop the same bag as the ones in the Warrens do. Only difference is that at lvl 14, he'll get eaten alive in Stonebrunt and most of the Warrens is pretty trivial to him Smiley: wink

I would agree to spend money on some str items if you only have 80 plat.
However to answer your question, when in the bazaar do a search for "token" which will then show all the wr bag tokens that are for sale. Buy a token and turn it into the Barbarian female who is on the southern side of the merchant area. She will hand you back the appropriate bag.

The gukta bag is Nugruds satchel, It has 8 slots 20% wr and is 6 weight vs the 10 slots 3 weight 10 percent reduction of a hand made bp.
I only use the nugruds satchel with my barb shaman.

In great thanks, Rut decided to prance naked through the hills of Qeynos twanging his bow and wearing a ringlet of ivy leaves as a rictualistic thanks to the Great God of Forums.

You can get a 20% WR bag virtually free in Gukta.

Hand in a rusty mace, dagger, spear and axe to Supplier Nugrud and he gives you Nugrud's Satchel.

Rut, on Venril the bag tokens start at 50pp for 10%. This is for the hand made backpack. I have also seen the 85% bags there. You hand in the token to Caerwyn or something like that... she is the npc who stands in front of the building that is between the the two banks in the Bazaar.

Gather up the matierials for a handmade backpack (small sewing kit, HQ bear or rockhopper pelt, backpack pattern). Do an /ooc in PoK and ask if some kind tailor will do the combine for you.

You'll have a handmade backpack in no time.

One of the tricks I have always used is to use large bags instead of backpacks. Large bags weigh 1 unit each. Backpacks are 3 units each. 48 slots for 8 units of weight vs 64 slots for 24 units of weight. I usually am encumbered before I fill up 64 slots anyway.
