I am aware that at some time in the past there was a change in how the
race xp modifiers are handled. I have tied using your site to do a
search of the patch history, but that portion of your web page has been
removed, or moved to a location I am unable to find.

Would it be possible for you to reply to this beyond the auto-responder
that I shall receive in a short bit with the detailed information
regarding this change. It can be the txt file for that patch if that
would be easier, or just the portion containing the FACTs about the xp
modifier for races and classes.

Thank you very much

XXXXXX X XXXXXXXXX

EQ player for many many years.

------------------------------------------------------

Very simple. Years ago when EQ first started there were both class and race
xp penalties. Some time after Kunark expansion SoE dropped the class based
xp penalties, but left the race penalties in.

About the time that SoE implemented Shadow Knight class for Gnomes, and
Paladin class for Halflings SoE made one more adjustment to the race based
xp penalties.

This information was made available during a patch message at this time with
the % for the race bonus or penalties. I am wanting this information
please.

------------------------------------------------------

i figured this is good information if i can ever get it, so i brought it to the main forum, maybe someone out there will have access to the history of patch msg. and can look up the patch that had the latest change in this matter.

VI/SOE has never, to my knowlege, given out specific numbers for any of the game mechanics (with possible exceptions to some example numbers for Exp bonuses for grouping and ZEMs). They usually say something like: "Exp penalties reduced for some classes", or somesuch. So looking through old patch messages probably wont be of much help.

If you want, you can do some digging in google and maybe find some info about race exp penalties. There are many sites where folks have done some calculations (and used some cheat programs) to calculate the exact percentage penalties based on race. I used to know of a few, but I couldn't find them from my computer here at work (Not even sure if it's on my home comp, since it's been rebuilt a couple times since I last looked something like that up).

Honestly, it's really not that big of a deal. IIRC, basically ogres, trolls, and Iksar get penalties (maybe Vah shir as well?). It's like 15%. An old table I vaguely remember had them at like 17% for ogres and trolls, 13% for Iksar (Vah Shir didn't exist back then). I could have sworn that races like Elves, dwarves, and barbs each got like a 5% penalty as well, but that could be just muddled memory speaking.

I really wouldn't worry about it. Play the class/race combo you like. Odds are, you really wont notice the racial penalties. You definately wont if you are enjoying playing the character. The whole point of EQ is to have fun afterall...

i could of sworn a while back when soe implemented the new classes for some of the races they changed the xp penalty/bonus for some races.

IIRC it was as follows:

troll = 15% penalty
iksar = 15% penalty
halfling = 5% bonus

no other races have an adjustment and are set to 0% modifier.

reason was iksar/troll have regen thus get the penalty, halfing got bonus as an incentive for players to use that race.

that was in a patch close to 2yrs back, and maybe even 3yrs back. head hurts trying to remember that far back. when did gnomes get SK, and halflings get the pally class? was that before or after pop? or was it before SoL or after? that would help get closer to the information in a time frame.

Trolls has been 20, or at least, that's the only number i've ever heard tied to them.

The patch you're talking about was when they removed hybrid EXP penalties, but kept the minor exp bonuses for warriors and rogues. My best suggestion is to just find an archive and scan through the msgs...doesn't take very long.

As for racial exp penalties, I've always seen

Iksar / Troll 20%
Ogre 15%
Barb 5%

Halfling +5%

Regardless of WHAT the penalty is, I'll tell you now it really doesn't matter much at all. I'm a 65 ikky necro, and I leveled just as fast as my non-ikky buds.

Doesn't seem to matter much on AAxP either...my gnome necro friend and I get the exact amount of AAxP per solo mob.

no race % here, but does state and confirm some of the other information that is floating around as both rumor, and now confirmed some to be wrong, others to be right.

Could you double check on that please. From what I remember the races of Iksar and Troll receive a penalty for their regen, and the race of Halfling receives a bonus as an incentive to players to use that race.

Thank you again for the replies.

last reply was No she does not.

that maybe that she does not, but there has to be some kind of info out there someplace. i know i have read it on a patch msg, or from a SoE bord sometime in the past.

the patch messages archive up to a year ago .. if you think it was on a patch message maybe look in here

http://eqlive.station.sony.com/updates/future_plans_archive.jsp

sadly as stated in my first e-mail SoE has removed the archival list of patch msg.

that site is for FutureĀ PlansĀ Archive

future archive only. nor a true archive of 'past' patch msg.

thanks though.
