C'mon.. holiday weekend and all that, what'd you do with yourself in EQ land?

Not a hell of a lot to report here. Did a bunch of LDoN adventures with my lowbie rogue alt and got up to level 36. Went shopping to replace my AC-lacking Ikky Regen BP and picked up a Crypt Robber's Chestplate for all of 2k. Good Lord, I bet plate classes wish they had AC:47 breastplates selling for 2-3k.

About half of the groups I was in rocked. The other half sucked rocks. Such is the way with lowbie pick-up groups. I'll spare you the stories.. they just sucked.

Did the "trip to LGuk for the DE mask" thing armed with little more than sneak/hide and a summoned waterstone. My plans were to camp the rogue there and come back with my bard to do the actual killing but, as fate would have it, my rogue arrived just in time to see a troll kill the assassin. Since the troll obviously wasn't a rogue or bard, I shot him a tell asking about it and he said one was rotting right now so loot up. Yay me -- DE form is a hella lot smaller than Barbarian form and has much better vision Smiley: wink

My NYE plans fell through, so I found myself in Velk's again, soloing, and drunk.

Managed to pick up a few LDON's, and a PoV group, then back to PoJ (this happened in two days, so a bit of a blur.)

Made 60 % of 58 in two sessions after grinding through the first 40 % for weeks, so finally hit 59. I should promptly be 60 within the year :)

Still trying to find a fungi staff so I can get rid of my fungi and get a *real* breastplate. I'm finding my twink package (that I really haven't upgraded anything since 50 or so) is quickly becoming outdated.

Friday & Saturday - Not much EQ, v. busy not smoking and being extremely irritable Smiley: glare
(Heavy smoker until New Year's Day - wish me luck!)

Sunday - Some decent Exp in Veksar and looted a Soulscream Belt - Many thanks to Chimom Smiley: grin

Monday - RL Employer Faction Quest Smiley: frown.
They've nerf'd the Spell Effect on 'Scowl of the Secretary' which is a relief. Gained a few more skill-ups: Doodling (134) and Paper-clip Sculpture (76).

Friday, Saturday and Sunday saw the cleric Courtin, and sometimes Jonwin, haunting the Lord Grimrott spawn, killing ph's about 8 times. In between I would run down to the spires and kill gnolls. Courtin even made a run into paw sunday that ended up with the group being swamped by adds and broken mezzes as we were heading out. ( And there were two enchanters in the group!)
Fortuneately a friend with a click stick was on and I regained level 34. Smiley: grin

Winjon made an occasional appearance at the crazed goblins in BB, raising 2hs, 1hs, and piercing. Lost out on Silver Chitin Handwraps selling for 1k P, to a cleric I was grouped with. Seems I was responding to his group chat when the auction went out and he beat me to the tell. ;(

Guild took out Tallon and Vallon Zek but I wasn't online. Later we took out Bertoxx which although is a rather boring fight it gave me Tower of Solusek Ro access - WOOHOO!

I also helped a friend out by trying to get the burning embers in BW. Got to the camp and started my usual clearing pattern then got the cycle going with place holders, Phurz and Nezz. Killed both wurms for hours (3 minute spawn time for a total of 6 hours with one of the named about 40% of the time). We let some disgusting amount of wurm guts rot (by the way, if you're on Saryrn and need the red wurm guts send me a tell and they're yours). I'm beginning to think Phurz's and Nezz's loot table is fouled up. Camping these things for 6 hours is a record and then some for me.

Later did some PoJustice trials for friends. Once again realized how disgustingly powerful AE groups are. Myself, one cleric, one bard, one chanter and two wizzies cleaned up easily.

Other than rebuilding my secondary machine using scavanged parts, i didn't do too much. I now have this as a secondary machine:

    PIV 1.8Ghz
    1GB ram
80GB HD (bringing me up to an absurd total available HD space of 0.52TB)
    DVD
    CDRW
Zip 250 (had one extra lying around, figured why not?)
    Geforce 4 TI 4600
Still need an OS for it, and maybe a sound card.

Did very little everquest. But I'll probably do more this week if people don't pester me too much about story writing.

I finally attained Pathfinder status. Did my first PoP group. Went to PoN with some random people and was kinda suprised that the xp wasn't initially that great. But I ended up getting a couple of yellow for the effort. I figured that was a cool cushion for the level and turned up AAXP so I can start working on Run1-3. Then I will prolly go back to straight leveling.

Buffing for trip I hit my highest ever HP, 4403. Still being a relative noob at 51 my thoughts were "Holy Crap!" and "I am INVINCIBLE!!!!" Whoa nelly was I wrong. The tanking pally had to go help a guildie and, you guessed it, RANGER TANK! Planes tanking gave me a whole new respect for the old call of "Ranger Down!". Although I didn't die, I was a freakin mana sponge. I have NEVER been hit that hard and that often before. Treants that doubled for 250, often, and spiders that would hit me for 200 a pop, often. I was seeing spammed heal messages more often that I, or the cleric, cared to. Even with KEI and a high level beast crack, she had to med every 6 or 7 pulls. LDoN tanking doesn't compare with it AT ALL. Of course, now at 51 I have Jolt, so when the Pally was tanking, and when he came back to do it some more, I took 0 damage. I LOVE IT! It is everything it is cracked up to be, IMHO.

My shadow knight dinged 50. Yay me! Highest character ever!! Now I want to see a dragon. And kill it. *evil grin*

Also managed to have an acrylic chestplate default to my poor underequipped knight while camping the primalist in Acrylia Caverns. Yay me! Put my darkforge bp in the bank. The mask we wanted didn't drop though. Now I just need to upgrade my oh so spectacular fine plate bracer...

Had a big weekend, started off in The Dreadlands doing the grind. Then headed off to Grimling to do the caves with the Guild. Had a great time. Lots of exp. and didn't die once, and I tried really hard. Made 40 Woot! so now my Souldtripper procs. I then proceeded to DSP to play with it. It was procing 3-5 times a fight. (75 damage and 75 heal for me) so I got cocky I thought I didn't need to heal myself. Promptly got jumped by a Rockhopper, he had me down to 11% before I made the zone.

This happens every time I get new spells or a cool new weapon.

    I think I'm "invincible!"

Found the grease for the Cloak of Greater Pernicity in the bazaar for 100pp. Went to do the hand in and found they don't like necros in Ak'Anon. Farmed for a few hours, till I was amiable, npc gave the items right back. Something about dealing with evil, that little *******.

Went to the bazaar, and found a gnome potion, was able to do the hand-in. WooHoo.....my precious

    Dinged 56.

    Not much else.

At some point someone noticed that Sontalak was up (that's what you get for not re-binding after a NToV raid) so the call went out, and we spent about 2 hours losing people to Siren's Grotto. Finally we launched our attack and got whomped. I dunno what the problem was, probably not enough DPS. We kinda suck...
Other than that, I got my necro killed a few times, re-downloaded LoY to exp on the beach at Gunthak. Also ran a few Adventures with the cleric. First was easier than kiling an_orc_pawn_01 with Ice Comet; after that we decided to do a Hard setting and got raped. Oh well, that's how it goes.

I ended up working most of the weekend - but I did manage to attend one of those gorgeous LDoN raids that ended in a failure because of stupid, ridiculous game mechanics.

Hrm, what else...dinged my 300th AA and my 200th LDoN win - and I spent a lot of time fixing covers on TPS reports.

Not only was it a holiday weekend, I am on vacation as well!

So lots of great things were planned.

In a fit of pique at having to eat full exp losses at 58, a few days ago I decided to start a serious cleric. I'd started one a while ago, but she was more of a trade skill mule than any serious attempt at a cleric (she is a gnome after all).

So Aesten, High Elf cleric was created. Initially not twinked, it is totally unnecessary for the first few levels, just killed rats in front of the Cleric Guild with the newbie club to begin with. Then aunty Celeni gave him a Centi Warhammer and took him out to meet some Orcs, as they travelled through GF they noticed that the baby basilisks gave supertremendous experience. So didn't really bother too much about the orginal plan of collecting Orc's belts and shoulder pads, just hung around a spot that had plenty of basilisks and tree thingies and in a flash had reached level 9. (Other than the hammer he was still quite naked.)

By this time they had collected a few belts as a result of passing Orcs, so though it would make sense to go hand them in while they could still do the most good. Stopped in at Felwithe to buy some spells and at this point aunty Celeni decided he was worth spending a few PP on and sent her sister Aeleni off to the bazaar to see what cheapie goodies could be found.

We were all full of excitment as Aesten is the first plate wearer in the family and we were eagerly waiting to see what marvelous AC items we could find for him. Well, the first thing we check out are breastplates of course, what do we find? An AC 30 chain tunic being sold for 1200 PP??

So Aesten gets decked out in a few good pieces of equipment that will last him untill his 40's (took this approach as the intention was to rapidly PL him) including the chain tunic Smiley: rolleyes, Acrylia legs, Full Mithril helm and a few items from the family treasure chest, including a Lozdial Shell Shield for reasons which will become obvious shortly.

They set off for Kaladim and on the way stop to see how Peg Leg and his buddies are doing, well it turned out that they were a source of amazing experience so after handing in the belts in Kaladim they went back to the bandits and rapidly moved from 9 to 14.

At this point they decided to go test out a theory about Dagnor's Cauldron. At first they set up on the shore line not far from the NPC camp, there is a spot where several aqua goblins and various snakes path by. And yes the theory was proving correct the experience was superb. Within a very short space of time Aesten was 16 and they moved out onto the island to a spot just below the Dwarven stone marker and set about killing aqua goblins in earnest. Aesten rapidly made 20 in spite of being killed twice by that pain in the *** Dwigus.

At this point they moved into Unrest, some may think we could have moved to Unrest a bit earlier, as the yard trash was green by this stage, however the experience from the Tidal Lords and Bosuns was still very strong all the way to 20.

We, umm, they set up at the back of the building and began pulling the ground floor, when they turned blue moved to the second floor and then finally pulled the top floor untill Aesten hit 29.

After a quck trip back to Kaladim to update some spells, they went back to Dagnor's and went into Kedge Keep, the second part of my great theory and the reason for the Lozdial shield.

They set up at the entrance and began pulling Lancer Swordfish, the experience was astranomical! Within a couple of hours Aesten was 34 and ready to be set loose on the world.

Hehe, level 34 Cleric 1h blunt, offense, defense, dodge all maxed (swimming 136, lol). But, alteration, abjuration, channelling all in the 30's. The rest I wont even mention and meditate had not even been trained.

However by this time Aesten had a couple of hundred unused training points so they headed back to the cleric guild and dumped suitable numbers of training points into the key skills and then spent a day practicising casting various things to get rid of as many fizzles as possible.

Once alt, abj and evoc were all above 100 and alt specialisation was above 50 (and superior heal had stopped fizzling) he turned on LFG, whoohoo.

Well he is now 37, all dome in LDoN adventures, the amazing part of the whole story is that I will log on both Aesten and Celeni, turn LFG on for both and inevitably they will both get an invite within minutes, Celeni has actually made a level (now 59) doing LDoN.

Poor old Iluien, it is his worst nightmare come true.

Sunday- Huge raid showing for SOC, almost 24 people I think. We take down rumblecrash with one bard rampage death then try to spawn doomshade with no luck. Move over to Kael and smack down the Vindicator with one cleric rampage death. I win the Chestplate o vindi hooray! Overall was just an awesome day for us and alot of fun.

LDON raids in the future maybe....

Last 2 weeks = working on In-Law faction.

Saturday - everyone goes off on a boat ride in the Santa Barbara Channel, so into some groups I go! In PC and Unrest, I have brought all my guys to the virge of 20. I am still holding to my plan of DINGing 20 four times in a single day, so have to get my ranger (Miek) into a PC group (was invited this morning, but had to go to work - just WHERE are my priorities, eh?). Everyone else can level with a couple or three solo kills.

Should have time on Wednesday night, as my wife will be out of town.
