I just started playing and the amount of things I don't know is overwhelming. Rather than asking all my questions here, I'll continue to read and play the game and try and figure it out. If I don't just go mad first.

I'm coming here from Asheron's Call and resisting the urge to remap all my keys so the interfaces will be the same. In the meantime, I've decided to start looking around for a guild.

Not going to bore everyone with what I'm looking for specifically but rather ask if there's a site that describes the various guilds out there? I have two level 2 toons on two servers, so it's not as though I'm tied to a server. I've checked out the server links on this site but they pretty much just list names.

If I have to I'll go through them all individually to find what I'm looking for but I'd much rather skip that step.

My suggestion is to level up a while. Get to know the Guild reputations on your server. Once you get up to level 30ish you'll know more what each Guild is like on your server. You don't really need a guild until after lvl 40 anyway, except for companionship, but you can find that in other ways.
Once you are really ready for a guild you can do some research... Most servers have websites, and they usually list Guild websites - read through the information on those websites, read the message boards, etc to get a feel of the Guild. Group with lots of different people - if the people are top notch, the guild usually is too.

I second that, dthmj. Also I'd suggest that you choose one of the newer servers to play on. Most of the old servers are so saturated that the economy has gone right out the window and there's no real sense to the prices of things.

/agree

But also, if you already know what you're looking for in a guild, ask around. Someone will be able to tell you what guild or guilds on your servers most match what you're looking for. Or ask here =) Then you can get a couple guild names for many different servers.

For example, are you looking for a guild that will help you level up quickly, are you looking for a guild for friendships and good times, are are you looking to find something for when your character is older for raids, flagging for high level zones, and high end gear?

Chances are the guild that works for you at lower levels is not going to be what you need at higher levels. And as you play the game, and as new expansions come out, what you want in a guild is likely to change too, so keep an open eye as you play to learn what the "personalities" of the various guilds are like.

Here is a link to some of the guilds on each server. I am sure there are other sites like this out there if you just look around. You can always try Everlore for links to guilds. I have not looked around Everlore in a long time, but it used to be a good site.

I agree with everyone else else about leveling up and getting to know people on the server you play on. Good luck to you and I hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for the information. I'm working on getting to level three on (I know I'm going to get this wrong) Brell Strellis. I think MD from AC plays here, at least I think that's why I wrote it down.

I've checked out some of the links, and I'm still looking for an active server board for the server, since that seems to be a good way to find things out as well.

As for what I'm looking for in a guild? A healthy mix of ages, although I'd like a lot of adults, being one myself. A message board where I can go and annoy them with my idiot questions and won't be the only person posting. A group that doesn't have a lot of rules beyond the basic, "Play nice and try not to be any more of an idiot than you have to be." I don't need loot or twinking, since I feel that the best way to learn the game is by toughing it out. It would be nice though to have some guidance, people who will ask me where I'm hunting and then laugh at me and tell me where to move to for better experience and loot.
