Summon and SnareFollow

hiya folks.

I have kinda of a wierd question.

Someone told me that mobs doesnt summon if they are snared. i.g. necros could aggrokite mobs who summon and i remember once that i saw a wizzy in SF trying to solo a guardian wurm. i had no time to stay to see if he was knowing what he is doing. So can someone pls explain if snare affects in any way the ability to summon.

thx in advance

I am not 100% sure on this, but I am pretty sure that is not true.

i am 100% sure that is wrong.

if a mob summons it will summon whom ever it is pissed at. does not matter if mob is snared or not.

Mobs that summon don't summon until they take damage, so it's possible to use druid or ranger snare, for instance, and not get summoned...until he gets damaged.

If you meant, if you snared yourself, the mob can't summon you.

I think this is a recipe for personal disaster!

I would hate to try this, because with my luck I would get summoned and not be able to get away....

Alas, I reply from expereience Smiley: glare

  • A snared mob can summon youSmiley: frown
  • If you're snared, and a mob summons you, you will appear on top of the mob with his fist where it hurts. No delay. Smiley: frown
  • If you're so dumb that you've snared and/or rooted yourself, mob's summon still works Smiley: frown

  • /skulk on
Now as the best and most modest player in EQ, I've never, EVER snared or rooted myself. Never, hear me? NEVER.

You can actually pull any summoning mob with non damaging spells. That includes snare. As a Cleric, I use the reverse damage spell (Mark line of spell) to pull mobs. They have very small aggro so the tank can take aggro right away and they don't do damage so I don't get summoned. One thing I noticed, and someone can correct me this if I am wrong, you will also not be summoned if you nuke and the mob resists the spell thus no damage is done.

As the above poster said, snare is a high aggro spell. So it's possible that you can aggro kite by having the druid or ranger repeatedly snare and kite the mob while rest dot/nuke. That is very possible.

Yeah the summon ability is not activated until the monster takes about 5% damage.

You can tag with low dmg spells and they still won't summon.
