This effect lasts until you have caused 3 non-periodic critical strikes with Fire spells.

This spell seems insanely good... am I not understanding this correctly? Doesn't this mean that on average you will get critical strikes 20% of the time or better? If there is no mana charge, and no cooldown, this seems like it'd be better than Arcane Power for an Arcane/Fire mage. If you keep this constantly cast you get 20% crit... can't be right.. Can someone enlighten me/us?

they both ave their strengths. combustion would just basically force whatever spell u cast to crit. It has a CD on it of 3 mins, as does Arcane Potency. AP increases spell dmg by 30%, while increasing mana cost by 30%. just depends on your personal preferance. with a high crit rating, combustion just forces a crit, while AP would increase the dmg of the spells.
