For those folks like myself who are a bit fuzzy on using coordinates, I located him just west of the arena between BB and the nearest Horde camp. He was almost within sight of the beach, and spawned near where you start to track the Raptors and the Young Raptors. Didn't seem much tougher than the regular raptors for a 40 Hunter. Just sent pet in to take aggro, after clearing some nearby raptors, and stood back and shot. Healed pet once, but didn'y really need to.

He is more near 31,40 If he is not there walk between the water near Grom Gol Vase and the arena he walks threw there.

33 43 is almost imposible to get to it took me 10 minutes when i got there he was gone i went looking and i found him @ 28 45 soloed as a 38 feral druid farly easy

Hes at 33,43 and he patrols between two groups there.
Belarion hunter 35

I found him at 31.43 (Titan). Killed him eazy as a lvl 40 holy priest.

Spawn point at around 28.45

I've seen him earlier questing in that area, non-elite now but I'm not convinced with the faster spawning, been circling the area for good 45 minutes now and still nothing.

Tethis used to be lvl 43 elite and had a very low spawn rate , but in latest patch is just lvl 43 and is arounf all the time .

I was expecting a close contest but my lvl 40 loc took him down and didn't even break a sweat.

Cords are 27,43 but he does move around a little

FYI- This can be attained by a 29 (with help) and because it's item level is above 35, you can get outlands enchants on it.

He was an easy kill for us (2 hunters level 39 and rogue 39).
Killed the raptors in the close vicinity and then targeted Thetis.
Had pets take all the aggro and tanking. Placed traps but didn't need them at all. Took 40 secs for the kill.
Easy XP :-)

Found at 29, 45 heading north.

Just solo'd this guy as a 41 feral druid, was easy as pie. Went dire bear and pulled using feral faerie fire, then we went head to head for a while. I know Im real vulnerable when I pop into caster form, so I choose to heal real early, as I hit 1/3 health I pop out, cast rejuv, followed by regrowth, followed by healing touch. This leaves me with about 1/4 mana after I go back into bear, which had me worried, but we bashed each other long enough for it to get back to a little over 3/4, so I rinse and repeat, except this time I cast an innervate before going back to bear just in case I need to do it all again, turns out I didnt though, so finished the fight and had a full mana bar to heal with in case of any instant adds.

Was quite satisfying because it was a much longer fight than Im used to, I can tell you this though, I was considering going cat form, but the beating he gave me while in caster was enough to know I should be in bear tanking this one out slowly. The first two heals only served the purpose of giving me time to get a healing touch with it's lengthy cast time. Only had 2 maybe 3 more hits left when I finally got it cast.

Like the poster below, I'm on Nagrand, and I did this at about 5am Australian Eastern time, which being an oceanic server is pretty quiet, didn't see one other player anywhere near there, I was only there to pick up tribal leatherworking quest, and happened to think I might see if I could get a few thick leather off the raptors there while I was close by when I came across him.

It's not that you can't solo this quest it's more a problem of competition! Both Horde and Alliance do the Jungle Stalker quests and as the drop rate on the feathers is very low the whole area is one of total pwnage! You are competing with other groups to pwn Tethis and the group that gets the first shot in wins! If it's not your group you will have to hang around for a re-spawn and hope you see him first!
The other proble is that at times it might appear as though there is a shortage of Junglr Stalkers but they are all dead and waiting to spawn on top of you!
If you really want to solo this quest its best to wait until the server is quiet otherwise you will not be alone!

Essentially the challenge for soloing this quest is applying proper tactics and not brute force, at least for casters. The absolute key to this quest for my level and class(42 Undead Lock) is patience. Locks being cloth wearers and scantily armored, are eaten alive by beast like this if they take them on head-on. Part one of the challenge of Tethis is to do everything you can to avoid adds. Unless you're exceptionally good or a higher level player than me, if a second raptor enters the fray before you have Tethis on the ropes, you're going to be dead. So either very carefully remove nearby potential adds or wait until he moves to an area where he won't get help. If you're soloing this one at a lower level and he's hanging with close buddies with no sign that that will change, you may want to take a pass and come back later or bring buddies yourself. Part two of the process is to use your minion or pet to take 100% of the abuse if at all possible. So make sure you don't Dot or immolate or do any casting too soon.

I found Tethis within fifty yards or so of the north west corner of the arena, ranging between there and in a northwesterly direction to the overlook to the northwest near some basiliscs.

I foolishly tried to take him solo at 38 (paladin) but that went south fast as I ran out of mana too soon. So I put the quest on the back burner.

After I get lvl 40, I'm doing the Mithril Order quests and then I here someone saying, "Anyone killing Raptor Mastery (elite) mob?" I /tell back that I have the quest and would like another crack at this bruiser. We group (there was already a lvl 38 or 39 shaman in the group with this guy, a lvl 40 warlock). I met the shaman on the road and we headed out to where Tethis spawns (west or NW of the arena, where a lot of Jungle Stalkers are). We are wandering about looking for Tethis, fighting the Stalkers that aggro on us when Tethis spawns practically right on top of us (or he came from behind a tree, I don't know but we definitely didn't see him!). One sec we're fighting a Jungle Stalker and the next a big 'ol blue raptor is on me like white on rice! The warlock was still en route but it wasn't like we could wait! Myself and the shaman start laying into Tethis (me with the usual Judgments and Seals, the shaman with totems and earth shocks and melee (I had to holy light three times and use a mana potion. The shaman threw down a Heavy Stone Statue (must have been a jewelcrafter) which I had not seen in action before, which was pretty cool. The warlock got there about 2/3 to killing Tethis. Sicced his Voidwalker on Tethis and blasted him. He died soon after and we all got the Talon. Went back to the hunter camp to turn in the quest. A good night's work. Then we find out we have to kill ANOTHER named mob (the white tiger). I said "tomorrow night" bid farewell to my groupmates and logged. That's a fight for another night!

Going for this on a 28 hunter :)

If you're having trouble finding him, he's the only large blue raptor around, so walk around the raptors north of gurubashi. I found him at 29,42

Exact spawn point is loc 31,40. Watched him appear.

This quest is not really that difficult, and if I can do it, so can you.
I am a lvl 42 Hunter with 1600 ac and reasonable AG stats. I took out Tethis on my own by simply unleashing the pet, using rapid fire with the odd Multishot and Arcane shot thrown in. I may have used volley just for the hell of it (looks cute!).

To find Tethis:
I set off from Booty Bay heading north along the main road. When I reached
level with the cave marked on the map on the right of the road (this is the southernmost cave on the map) I turned left off the road and started to head north west towards the Guburashi Arena through the jungle (I needed to get some food for my pet anyway!)

I kept heading north until I went past the Arena on my left. There are low foothills to my right and now I find that I am in the middle of "Raptor City". Nestling in the foothills on the right are pairs of raptors (lvl 40ish+lvl 36-mother and baby-ahhhh). I avoided these as a dangerous distraction. I kept going towards the mouth of the river and when you are at the northern end of those foothills, Tethis is there (Co-ord 29,43 mentioned below is accurate for the area). Now, a fellow guild member told me to kill everything around Tethis to ensure no adds. I did kill a lot but I remember that there was one raptor quite close to him when I attacked - but it didn't participate.

Tethis dropped the talon as expected and I banked 3600xp plus the chest piece.

I cant find Tethis! I am in the right place but he is never there! do anyone know what his respawn time is? cuz when i see him someone else kills him!!

Did this with a lvl38 warrior and a lvl40 shaman - both died once in the process. Tethis spawns in the middle of some regular raptor mobs, timing is essential. Used 5xSunder Armor and various other impairing buffs to gain some damage.
