If you're looking for Firefins and Oily Blackmouths, the best place to fish them all day from one spot is Booty Bay. Sit anywhere in the bay and fish. I have a 37 warlock with a 300 artisan fishing skill and got 10 firefins and 7 blackmouths in about 15 minutes there.

Southshore is good for lowbies around lvl 30.

There are sparse schools of firefins in Southshore. If you keep re-casting until you drop the line right into one, you get a 99% chance of catching one. Most schools last for about 3 each before they disappear but whatch for the Merlocs, they don't like you stealing their fish.

I went north from Southshore and got a total of 21 firefins in less than half an hour.

Yeah, this guy doesn't sell 2/3 the resources displayed here. Major problem when it comes to 100% accuracy. I spent 10 mins out of my way to get here and learned the hard way not to depend on this site. Any reason for the bad update? I wonder if allakhazam.com has a dump code to retrieve data from Blizzards SQL server. Please don't tell me you guys do this manually! Well, I'm off to another site where I know for a fact their info is updated every 24 hours and noted. I don't recommend this site to anyone who has to fly across worlds to have a resource based on their info as of this minute. Hope you guys get it together then I'll be back. What a shame. I really like this place, too. :(

Another great place to find schools of these fish is at Shadowprey village, in Desolace. Just follow the coastline south of the village and numerous schools of the fish spawn at a quite decent rate!

Hi,

I was reading the posts on this site and went to menethil harbour to fish. I was there for a little over an hour and fished 100 oily blackmouths and 40 fire fins. My fishing skill is at 150 and I used fishing baubles that added +75 to +100 skill.

I don't know if this will be much help to any of you but I thought I'd share. It seemed pretty successful for the oily blackmouths but the fire fins were a little bit more rare to catch.

Anyways happy fishing.

Just mount up and run along the STV coast. Schools of them are frequent and you get 4-6 fish per school.

If you have low level but you want to hook them, you can go to Stontalon Mountains and there in Cragpool Lake and Blackwolf river. There is a lot of them. You have to fish the schools!

Southshore is packed with schools of these guys...pretty easy to find...just walk along the shore and watch out for the murlocs xD

I went to Southshore last night around 8pm EST. I found that on the Eastern Strand there were lots of Firefin Snapper schools while on the Wesetern Strand there were lots of Oily Blackmouth schools. You guys should try it out, I hope it works as well for you as it did for me. Happy fishing.

Outside of grom'gol camp and at the docks in descolace i got about 17-20 in les then 15 minutes, try the schools of firefins and blackmouths, the crates give u nice stuff sometimes to and the rumsyrum u get sells good to.. dont fish outside of schools it'll take u 10 times the time...

Awesome place to fish for these is in Windshear crag in the Blackwolf River and Cragpool Lake.

I was there during peak hours on a weekend and fished for these uninterrupted.

Note there are no Firefin Snappers in Windshear Crag at all.
I fished there for 12 minutes straight and all I got was a few Oil Covered Fish and lots of Raw Longjaw Mud Snappers and Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish.

I don't know if this is true for anyone else. I look on the AH and there are people with starting bids for these things (stack of 20) at 1g and 2g buyout. I am only trying to sell them for 1g buyout now because they weren't getting bought and they still aren't. I put them up every day and nobody buys them...

I fshed for a while in MH and caught 20 Oilys and 11 firefins in about 30mins
Lvl 125 now lvl 40
BTW where do u get the next lvl of training for the fishing once u hit 150?

Since no one's mentioned it. Try the Oil Spills in Stonetalon. The spills consistently have Firefins and sometimes you'll find wreckage that contains boxes with goodies.

Fishing these and Blackmouths in the "Schools" off the coast of STV, got 33 of these and 37 black in 1 hr. + i got like 20 chest, wich incl. bolts of RC, MW, Silk. Money. Food and some greenies

I am a lower level under 20 horde. I have trouble fishing from booty bay at level 100 with a 50 and 75 lure. Are their any horde locations with good drops for these?

Stay in Ratchet and level to 150. at that point you can fish with lures in BB and now and then the Firefin schools of fish will pop up. You can also fish them out of BB without the schools, too.

something strange happens with their drop rate (or it's totally random ofc). I fished tons on the dock of horde village in Desolace while doing my 225+ fishing q. I mean 15+ of each in less than 2 hrs and thinking I got the perfect spot I went back again some day later only to get 2-3 in 30 mins... They're pretty thin in AH and when they do appear they cost a lot...

Have fished for firefin and oily in several places. Without doubt, the docks in Menethil is the best....I took 3 toons from under 140 to 225 here, and the oily came roughly 1` in 3 catches, and the firefin came roughly 1 for each 2 oily caught. This by actual count.

Booty Bay is by far the best place to catch them. In about 2 hours fishing with a 225 skill and +100 lure I caught 17 of them and another 10 Oily Blackmouths. These fish went for a lot in the AH, too.

If you go to the very north-eastern tip of Darkshore, you will come to the edge of the Veiled Sea. I had to swim to get to this point. I started fishing from a rock outcroping just past the deep water(when your swimming, you'll see what I'm talking about) with a fishing skill of 110 and no lure. I caught 3 firefins in the first 10 minutes, but no more untill I reached skill lvl 125 where I caught another 4 in 10 minutes. After that I was able to catch one more for about every 8 - 10 minutes of fishing. In total I caught 11 firefins and 5 oily blackscales in 45 minutes time.

I tried out this locations and there is a great deal of Firefins to be had as well as Oily Blackmouth. I don't know the exact ratio but after fishing for about 2 hours, I had 20 Firefins and 30 Blackmouths. Great location! Thanks for posting it, even though it's a pain to get to for horde aligned people. :-P

It appears that if one fishes near the naga on the beach at southshore, you can fish up one every ten minutes, or every fifteen or so fish, I was there for two hours and came away with 4 of them, enough to make 1 potion of Firepower... Hmmm I guess I'll have to try Booty Bay

Aye this is true, was fishing for around 30 mins and managed to catch myself around 20 Oily Blackmouths and 2 Firefin Snappers. I do have 150 fishing and was using NightCrawlers, so basically 200 fishing. Still not bad though.

I can vouch for this. I put a worm on the line for a skill of around 160 and caught 2 fire fin and 8 blackmouth in 10 mins

Just found these in Booty Bay on the pier near the Wharfmaster at level 30, with a skill of 106 using a +100 lure.

They were few and far between..about 3 in 15 mins of fishing.

where, how often, and what lvl fishing?
