Use your fish finder and look for the 'Highland Mixed Schools'; I had excellent luck at Blackwind Lake / Skettis and Lake Era'Noru just outside of Skettis. My Fishing skill is at 358 and I use Seth's Graphite Fishing pole (+20) with a Aqua dynamic Fish Attractor (+100) = 478 total skill lvl; maybe got "Your fish got away" 5 - 10%, but got Crawdads about 45% of the time... the rest was a mixture of Golden Darters, Spotted Feltail, 2 scribed containers giving 2 scrolls of spirit and intellect each, as well Barbed Gill Trout and a mysterious crate (Fel Ore)...
Good Luck!

Strange, I have only seen ads here 3 days in the last 7 years maybe, as a subscription expired! Try paying for the service and you would be amazed at how much better this site is! Or as others have stated, simply use other options. You don't HAVE to come here.... and of course post retarded comments in an area where those you WANT to read them will never see them most likely. Much like you will likely never see this :)

The only problem with Alla is people not having the intelligence to use it properly. I have gotten maybe one pop up or advertisement in the 5yrs I have been here. I use thotbot, WoWWiki is decent. Then you have wowhead, wowmatrix, curse.com. All comes down to what each individual is looking for. Each site may offer something the other does'nt. If you don't like it move on! But Alla has been a great tool source for the gaming world.

regardless of map co-ordinates.. I have found.. at least at Lake Ere'noru.. that the only way to catch furious crawdads is to watch for the swirling pools of fish that appear to have bubbles in the swirl.. fish there when you see it and you should catch some.. after fishing 4 such swirls.. i (FINALLY) caught 10.. then the swirls disappeared for more than 10 mins'
they moved around the lake in a timed fashion

I believe the Max fishing lvl to fish up by Skettis is 525. Obviously, you would need Aquadynamic fish attractor, the (+20) fishing pole and the rewards from the BB fishing tournament to get there. You can fish here @ lvl 430, but you would need lvl 525 to catch something on every cast.

There's really no other way to explain it, i roll around with a 375 fishing skill and use +100 Aquadynamic fish attractor on eveything i fish. Five out of 10 times, i have the msg fish got away (Highland School Mix). I belive the next patch this has changed a bit, decreasing the number of times you lose your catch, and fishing skills will be easier to obtain. With that said, will this put all those people that took there time to stand out with high fishing skills gone to waste? So eveyone can be a fisher man now..=(

I had one toon at about 350 fishing and another at about 260. Decided it was a good time to get them both better fishing skills, since its suppose to be easier with the patch. And, it is. However, its not that much easier. It still takes like 12 casts to go up a point after 275 or so. I doubt too many people are going to rush to get to 375.

It doesn't really matter where you fish, skillups are determined by how many fish you catch. You can get to max level fishing in a level 1 zone if you wanted to, but you won't get any usable fish out of it. You could go fish deviates, those sell fairly well on the AH, or if you have cooking go fish whatever you can level cooking on. The zone doesn't matter as long as it's not above your skill level.

The Blackwind lake has several nodes to fish from. Naturally this is the one area that has level 70+ mobs and those patroling elites you need to watch out for. But for priests and shaman fishermen, we can water walk or levitate on top of the water and fish from there and avoid most of mobs(need to kill only one mob per node usually) and completely avoid the elites. You'll need to stock up on reagents to use these abilities but it does make life a lot easier for me on my priest.

As of next patch (3.0.8), so I hear, the Elixir of Water Walking can be crafted by alchemists (see details on the patch notes and on the link). Right now it is a drop from, guess what, the daily fishing quest. Therefore those elixir's sometimes appear in the auction house. With them anyone can fish standing on the water. For a while ;-)

Good luck!

Went up there for the first time tonight to fish. Found a few highland mixed schools round the lake and a couple round the island in the middle. All are highly dangerous, you'll have to kill at least a couple of mobs and get clear when the giants come past (unless you're on the island, in which case clear all mobs).

I was getting mainly crawdads, a few golden darters and the usual non-fishy items. Even found a campfire on the island to cook them on. I had a fair few getaways though, with 375 skill, the +20 fishing pole and bright baubles.

Fishing in Outlands

Fishing Skill: 375 (takes aprox 8-10 hours from 300-375)

My Gear:
Nat Pagles Extreme Angler FC-5000 (+25 fishing)
Nat Pagles Extreme Anglin Boots (+5 fishing)
Thick Cloth Gloves (+2 fishing enchant)
Total of 407

Missing - available from the fishing contest are:
Lucky Fishing Hat (+5)
Arcanite Fishing pole (+35)
Eternium Fishing line (+5 enchant to pole)
Total possible of 427

TERROKAR FORREST (Yes, most of these locations will require you to fly)

Tip: bright baubles (+75 / 10min) are avail in Stonebreaker hold (Horde) at the trade goods vendor.

1. Lake Jorune @ 45,40
no mobs
407 = "Skill not high enough"
482 (w/ Bright Bauble) = often received msg "Your fish got away"
507 (w/Aquadynamic fish attractor) = aprox 30-40% "Your fish got away"

2. Lake Era'Noru @ 60,59
no mobs
407 = "Skill not high enough"
482 (w/ Bright Bauble) = often received msg "Your fish got away"
507 (w/Aquadynamic fish attractor) = occasional "Your fish got away".

3. Blackwind Lake / Skettis @ 67,80
many mobs lvl 70-71
407 = often received msg "Your fish got away"
482 (w/ Bright Bauble) = occasional "Your fish got away"

4. Silmyr Lake @ 38,5
some mobs, easily avoided
407 = often received msg "Your fish got away"
482 (w/ Bright Bauble) = catching all fish

5. small pond @ 39,22
no mobs
407 = occasional "Your fish got away"

6. behind Bonechewer ruins @ 68,57
no mobs
407 = often received msg "Your fish got away"
482 (w/ Bright Bauble) = catching all fish

In the two and a half hours it took me to test these areas I caught the following:

Barbed Gil Trout: 42
Spotted Feltail: 15
Golden Darter: 14
Furious Crawdad: 1- I caught this in a Highland Mix School, which I found on Lake Jorune.
Enormous Barbed Gil Trout (held in offhand: 1 - Also found in a Highland Mix School

To the best of my knowledge furious crawdad are only coming from the highland mix pools, if that is incorrect please let me know. I'm also assuming that the mix can spawn in any of the areas listed by allakhazham, which are the higher fishing skill pools.

Hope this helps, Enjoy :D

These things have a horrible drop rate, in my experience so far. I can make it to the locations have 375 fishing plus Nat's and lures..but have spent a couple hours and cannot get one hooked. The only way I have gotten one so far is to clear mobs and fish one up from a 'Mixed Highland School'. Perhaps this is the only way to get them?

Need Flying mount, those are the three water holes that you can get to only with a flying mount...The same holes that you can get the Furious Mr. Pinchy who gives you options for 3 wishes with a one day cooldown, one of those wish options is to have Mr. Pinchy as a possible non-combat vanity pet.

Little bit of a correction on Mr. Pinchy. I actually got him after about only 40 catches from the Highland Mixed Schools (which is shocking considering his drop rate is supposed to be something like .01%), and the wishes aren't really an option--you don't get to choose which one you get.

I've used 1 wish so far and I got a 2-hr buff (that lasts through death, like a flask) for an additional 1200 HP. More info at http://www.capsu.org/wow/catching_furious_crawdad.html.
