Btw, i see alot of comments about this ring being useless. It might be more useful with patch 2.0 since you cant really downrank heals the same ways as before to save mana.
well... 10mp5 is 120 mana pr. minute. c'thun is a fight for at least 8-12 min depending on how uber the dps is in the zerg phace.. that'll be 960 to about 1440 mana during one fight. it even has sh*tloads of intellect! +healing can go to hell, this is really decent, more decent then you really see by the first look.
My druid currently has +646 healing and +84 mana/5s (I would gain a netto 118 healing and 3 stamina without losses if I would get the AQT augur staff, which should be soon). I prefer mana regen over +healing for a couple of simple reasons. Firstly it helps regen in feral forms too (I often play as a restoferal hybrid druid in raids and + healing doesn't help me in feral, mana regen does). Then for encounters like Heigan I help nuking, mana regen helps there more than healing. Mana regen also helps for curing, abolishing, hybernating, etc etc. Just yesterday I also respecced from 0/30/21 to 24/0/27 to give that build a try and the mana savings from that template with a high mana regen gear focus is quite fun. :)
I also don't like items without STA or INT (especially with the 30/21 build since HOTW benefits from it - I used to have 10300 mana with raid buffs). Hence the reason for example I prefer the Angelista necklace over the one from the C'thun head quest.
Can you guys do the math ?.... realy...[sarcasm] if the ring doesnt have like 100+ healing is crap....[/sarcasm] this ring gives you 390 mana more then for example the priest tier 3 set ring(wich is very good regen wise and packs 50 +healing) If you cast 40 Gheals rank 5(dont start with i cast lower ranks crap.. if you spend more time inside 5 secs rule you will lose mana not gain) during a 10 minute fight your 22 healing would add 19*40 = 760 healing. With 390 mana i can cast a single flash that almost doubles that amount.
Even the set ring 47*40=1880 healing added, and thats with perfect i dont overheal i cast only gheal and never a flash/shield. A 390 mana gheal rank 5 would give around the same amount(with 700+ healing).
B4 you start saying that the tier 3 ring gives 55 not 47 gheal is a 3 sec cast only recieves 86% from healing.
I apologize if this is already taken into account, but.... all the +healing mentioned, isn't that realy "up to"+healing. As in, any amount up to and including this amount. So if you have +360 healing, on the average, do you wind up with +180 most of the time? If that's the case, don't you have to discount +healing/damage to some degree?
It's a situational ring. It's not better or worse. To me, it's a Patchwerk ring, because you need an assload of mana for that fight. On a fight like Grand Widow Faerlina, where it's a dps race and you have 5 minutes before you're owned, you want more bang for your buck instead of endurance.
To compare it to the tier3 set rings is pointless, because the entire -point- of the tier3 rings, is to give you 9 set pieces with only 2/4/6/8pc set bonus', allowing for both customization of gear, and for when you eventually start upgrading your tier3 in the expansion you can equip some cool new boots you got that rock over your tier3 boots, and still have an 8pc set bonus.
Also, as the tier3 ring is a quest reward for killing Kel'Thuzad, you're basically trying to compare to an item that just isn't available yet. You're also assuming your play style is the only sensible way to play, when there's obviously different ways for different fights.
I might prefer Pure Elementium Band 2mp5 and 55+ healing (with spir bonus) 55 healing to 8mp5... I dont know.. but imo Pure Elementium Band sounds better.
12 spirit = 7.5 mana/5s ~outside the 5 second rule 12 spirit = 2.25 mana/5s ~inside the 5 second rule with meditation and 3 piece trans 12 spirit = 1.125 mana/5s ~inside the 5 second rule with meditation OR 3 piece trans
Anyway, this looks like an "ok" ring but no +healing so I don't really see who it's intended for. At a stretch I would say that it was for Druids but I'm sure they could find better like the blue quest reward ring at LHC.
Well and there you have it, more than double of the mana regen...
It's the 10mp5 (wich is huge on a ring) that makes this thing "superior", though i don't know in wich encounter it gets useful... Therefore i agree with you, the ring beeing "ok" overall.

i expected a bit more from a end wing boss of naxx compared to an "easy" optional boss in aq.

Back on supject on this ring, I like it a lot, from my perspective it's a very small upgrade over the Ring of the Devoured (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=21681) which I currently have equipped together with Band of Sulfuras (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19138).

Since when was 12 spirit 2mp5?
its not even one lol

This is not to say that any other mana using class wouldn't need this item as well, just saying Shamans especially need it.
