It is true that Netherwind Gloves is better for Mages (NW bonuses + More total damage with the crit + more stam) but who am I to tell whether your guild is getting a lot of NW drops? If NW isn't dropping, then mages will have the dkp to spend on this.
If a shadow priest wins this over a mage, meh. Mage can always get Sandworm Skin Gloves with 27 dmg anyway. Or Bloodtinged Gloves from Jin'do. Or Hypnotic Flame.
But generally any guild that is downing the green dragons will have plenty of glove options open to mages that this won't be an issue.

So instead of arguing, start farming those babies for me :P
These are the best +dmg for a mage, if your not going for the full NW ( not all are), if your a mage and going for +dmg items you would never replace these. If your a holy priest and want these I dunno what to say

Mages: Netherwind Gloves or Gloves of the Hypnotic Flame (If you aren't going for full Netherwind, which would be like one out of 10 mages). Mages that want to wtfpwn with damage are fire mages so Hynotic > Delusional.
Warlock: Nemesis Gloves or Ebony Flame Gloves.
Priest: Ebony Flame Gloves or Gloves of Delusional Power, depending on spec.

So ALL mages that like plus damage are instantly fire?
So where does that place a 33 Arcane, 18 Frost mage? 33 Arcane is definitely not a quote unquote "raiding spec", and the 18 Frost is certainly not fire.
So now, could you please denote a better pair of gloves for frost mages that appreciate damage gear, and like me, are irked by sets? That's what I thought.
More +dam than Delusional power (if you consider +1crit to be equal to +10 dam, like most end-game mages who are epixxed out do.)
