1) Take FP to Azshara
2) Head North-Northeast to coast
3) Swim out to Scalebeard's cave (little island just offshore)
You will also catch probably 50% Darkclaw Lobsters here, and if you kill Scalebeard
he drops a greenie too.
Happy Fishing!

Please call me crazy, you wouldn't be the first but I encourage you to at least think about this next time you fish or mine or do any node based activity and see if you find similar results.

Along with the announced adjustment ought to be an adjustment that the nodes will BE "level appropriate."
i fish in Azshara Hetaera's clutch (that's at 58,55)
i experince that they have a +- 80% drop chance between 00:00 til 05:00
you do catch them at other times but ou catch like 1 in every 15 sucesful casts
they sell for about +-18g a stack on my server
Rhothran
you right that a fisherman never gives out his secrets but whel i like helping pll.

be prepared to lose some catches though. even with 300 fishing skill, +25 pole and +75 bauble, some fish still get away.

Unfortunately, both factions use the same facility, and it's annoying getting ganked while trying to just stand there and fsh...
I think the best place is a bit up the coast from the gnome shack,
At 55,92 in Azshara. It's not that I catch more there,
But there's a nice peaceful little spot
Where nobody ever comes...
Good place to just sit back with a tankard of Thunder Ale and watch the murlocs swim by while you fsh.
my skill was 210 with +25 pole and +75 bauble. too bad a stack of eels only goes for 10 - 13g. oh well.

You can found 4 type of fishing schools which are RANDOMLY generated: firefin snapper schools, blackmouth oil schools, stonescale eel swarms and floating wreckedges.
On my server i can make 100g easily in an hour, with fishing only from those schools. You can found many Mithril Bound Trunks (bolts of cloth, leathers, lvl ~40 green items), Rumsey Rum Black Label (very good for tanks) and some Strangekelps (for free action potions for example) too.
There is only one tiny problem with this, they are randomly spawns all around the place. So if you looking only for Stonescale Eels, you have to fish out most of the schools to make them change. But it will worth it...
If I'm wrong about that, let me be the first to give a heartily sarcastic "thanks" to Blizz, for nerfing the only thing that allows blacksmiths to level their skill before 60.
I have got anything from 1 to 5 catches (and a trunk) from a node.
Anyway the constant spawning means that it is not tricky to catch if you know how to find it.

Clearly the fishing table has stonescale eels in 2 entries. The first is time independent, which is why you can catch some at any time of day. The second is time dependent with clams replacing eels after 6am, resulting in the lower eel yield.
Mainly because its the only place i can fish winter squid at my fishing lvl (230) :P
70 human priest
70 draenei shaman
70 night elf druid
Realm: Windrunner (PvE 95% Alliance)
Made 40g on my first batch, 30g on my second. Whoever says raising fishing is useless doesn't know what they're talking about.

Maybe I found a sweet spot.... will go try some more and see if I can replicate the result.
Also netted more than a few mightfish, summer bass, and darkclaw lobster.
Definitely a great place to fish.
But Hetaera's Clutch is right smack dab in the middle of the bay of storms in Azshara (or slightly west of center, anyway) about a minute's swim from the coast. Hetaera (named elite hydra) spawns in the vicinity.
200 fishing + big iron pole + shiny baubles = 295 skill.
(feel like this is good money)
If I recall correctly, I think I had to be around skill level 200 before I could fish these, and even then it required Shiny Baubles (+75 to fishing)...which are easy enough to purchase.
If you're at skill level 300 and you fish Aszhara, you'll still need some kind of bait. I have a lvl 48 shaman and getting to the Aszhara coast is a bit scary, but it can be done; I just drop Earthbind totems and run like h***. ;-)
If you're an alchemist and you can find them, stonescale eels can be a real moneymaker when used to make Elixir of Superior Defense.
Try to catch them by going to the isle of dread and run al around it. Use one attraktor and use it up. Go walk to another spot and so on. Worked with me !
They all swimm in the Veiled See
Steamwheedle Port and Feathermoon 8:25-9:25 | Strong fishing pole with aquadynamic fish attractors then switched to bright baubles. Base fishing skill around 210. Mostly spotted yellowtail, some rockscale cod, then several mightfish, a few winter squid as well. Came away with 5 Stonescales. But, it was very streaky. I suddenly hit 2 eels in a row, then huge lull then a couple more. Moved to Feathermoon by this time I had skilled up so fished mostly without skill ups. Hit 3 right away! Then as quickly as they came they were gone.....called it a night at that point.
Totals for approx 1.5 hours
Stonescale Eel: 8
Raw Glossy Mightfish: 19
Winter Squid: 11
News from all of Europe
So stay tuned ^_^
Master of unnecessary knowledge...
They can also be caught as normal in the open sea, at the usual spots.
Where the beers and the man and hope prey.
Drop rate even lower for Feathermoon dock.
This isn't anything new this has always been the way it is. I have my hunter parked at Steamwhetel and he fishes there Mon-Fri on my Lunch break at work.
I feed them to my Warrior/Achly
Yes I have had the odd day where I get more. But still my average is under 5 an hour.
I was searching like a mad man on these over many different forum boards and webpages. It seems that this fish bites alot more often during the night then durign the day.
I havent tested this but many other people have confirmed this.

I was able to do this only 1 time. Since, I am lucky to get 6 in a half hour. Even with my fishing at 300 and a Strong Iron Pole.
Edited, Fri Nov 18 12:57:02 2005
I spend a morning and only caught 1. In the evening I caught 6 in much less time. My skill was around 240 + 75 lure.
Xunicron
Same low yield in Steamwheedle and Feathermoon, I don't know of any other good places to fish these up.

Have anyone else noticed this depending on what time they fish?
