I got a IBS but im thinking this would be better? (until a blackblade or halbeard) IBS has gotth crit stam and str, but this has got a proc that procs alot and i dps alot so i use alot o instant attacks. So i was thinking this would be better
I love this sword it procs so much, half the time I don't even bother to chase after runners, cause they will have the proc, deep wounds and rend on them.
(1) Demonshear BoP 2h sword, exclusively available from our good friend Balnazzar. damage: 163-246 (53.8 dps) speed: 3.80 chance on hit: 270 shadow damage over 6 seconds.
(2) Arcanite Reaper BoE 2h axe, but out of the price range of most casual players. damage: 153-256 (53.8 dps) speed: 3.80 equip: +62 attack power.
i'll point out the obvious fact that the reaper will probably get slightly higher crits. and i won't worry about the mechanics of exactly how much higher.
i believe 62 attack power is about 4.4 dps. multiplied by 3.80 seconds, this is about 16.8 extra damage per hit. on a side note, this means the axe actually deals roughly 170-273 damage, increasing the crit gap.
here's how i see it. you might see it differently. you can have a chance of dealing 270 damage over 6 seconds, or you can add a flat 16.8 damage to every hit. look at both weapons as dealing an average of 204.5 damage (not counting mitigation). with the sword, you'll add an extra 270 every once in a while. with the axe, you'll do that 270 damage every 16 hits (16.8 x 16 is about 270) due to the attack power increase, even assuming no critical strikes.
damage mitigation is everywhere in this game, and as soon as you categorize damage you've got targets resisting it. i'm not going to get into the math of that, cuz frankly i don't know it. there are sources of info on that though and i'm sure one of them will point out my noobishness soon.
i do know that tank types tend to resist physical damage better than other characters, and anyone who invests in resistance gear and remembers to use it will resist magical damage. so the Arcanite Reaper might be less effective against heavily armored opponents, and the Demonshear might lose a lot of its spiffyness against anything with general magic resist or specific shadow resist.
my vote would be in favor of the arcanite reaper, because it seems to me to have more damage potential against the majority of opponents. feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.
True enough, either way you look at it, they are both great weapons for an Arms warrior. I'm not sure exactly how the proc mechanics work on this sword, but it seems to me that with a sword specialization (5% chance to hit twice with the sword) not only helps the crit gap, but it also helps the proc rate of this sword slightly. Personally, considering the cost of an Arcanite Reaper, and the ease with which you can down Balnazzar, I'd farm this if at all possible. It can be difficult to find an SC run some days, but on my server you will usually see at least one or two advertising LFG SC Strat every night.
dropped this 2 days ago went and stuck +7 damage on it now just go to leval my 2h sword skill very nice free sword (besides the repair bill) from tanking

warblade of caer darrow is not better than demonshear: consider the higher maximal damage and chance on hit that actually proc a lot. Warblade had higher dps due to higher speed: it could be good if a viable 2h fury warrior spec existed. The most intriguing thing of the warblade is the frost damage that ignores armor rating. Pre 1.10 warblade won hands down, now this is not true. I prefer demonshear a lot.
I believe the best 2h weapon for ms warrior is darkstone claymore.. but also barbarous is a good one after all. 1000ish ms on cloth is possible with that sweetness, and i dont have good pvp equip.
This sword got a rather good buff in the 1.10 patch, So now sword MS warriors have a viable pre-raid weapon thats not a Barbarous blade. I wish this was arround before I started MC because I would definetly have chosen this.

unless u want to look like a total badass with THE ARCANITE REAPER go for demoshear
only downside is that the proc is actually a dot so it will prevent sheeps and gouges and such for its duration but thats not really a big problem

Wonder which enchant will be better with this sword? Not Crusader. Saving that for when I win the Warblade...
