There was really never a time when this dagger was great. =\

Bonescraper was always the great offhand, pre raid content. Barman Shanker was the prime mainhand, pre normalization. After normalization the blue AV dagger was better then the Barman and better then the heartseeker (for the main hand) too.

I used one on my rogue too, but now that I look back, I don't know why. ;p

I would highly reccomend that no one pay an insane amount of gold for this dagger. Just use CHEAP boe daggers off the ah until 60, and then at lvl 60 go farm AV for the 2 daggers you get from rep rewards.

ok i make these on maelstrom and whenever i make 1 i try to sell it even un the price written here i know servers vary in prices but tbh i get mostly offers like 50g for this beauty i think its worth atleast 400g+ dunno why ppl never even check then net after i tell em off and do /w me U n00b no way its 400g

How would you rate it as a weapon for windfury-shaman? I have used Hypnotic blade from SM, and it was awesome. Procented a lot, dealed crazy amount of damage during short time.
So, I'm shaman and I'm into fast daggers. %)

Shanker really got nerfed bad, on my server this dagger even going for 500g now. I bought one yesterday for 350g plus all mats for agi+15 except the essence.

Now I'm kinda broke and was trying to save for epic mount, I'm wondering is this dagger a much better upgrade from Shanker to be used in mh? or should i just sell it for around 450ish gold getting about 120+g profit

Some of you guys don't understand at all. The Shanker got a major nerf in patch 1.8... Heartseeker owns the Shanker now.

omg you n00bs. shanker is for backstab\ambush and HS is off-hand only.. if someone is using this in mainhand they are n00bs.
when looking for a good backstab\ambush wep look for a slow wep.. like the shanker, its even better than some epics.

I am saving up some money now for this dagger wich is an AWESOMELY good dagger for offhand and mainhand.
I have made some calculations and i find that (depending on the seller and the AH price) that on the Zenedar EU server it is cheaper to buy all the engridients on the AH then let yourself be ripped off by someone who will make you sometimes pay WAY to much money.

I can't really find a use for this dagger, it's too slow to be an off-hand and too fast to be a main-hand. If it had a faster/slower speed I'd have my guildy weaponsmith make me one.

I agree with what everyone is saying, Its quite pointless to try and get heartseeker and spend all the time working towards it when barman shanker is much easier to attain (aside from many BRD runs to attain it). But DO NOT use this in MC as it takes up a debuff slot that could be put to much better use. But other than that, a good combo might be shanker in main hand + distracting dagger as off-hand.

Absolutely not worth the time and money it takes to make it, and not even close to worth the money it usually sells for.

At the attack powers that 58+ rogues have, the Shanker hits for at least 20-30 more dmg on non-crit backstabs and ambushes. My ambush crits 60% or more of the time. My backstab crits about 50% of the time with a 30% dmg bonus. That's a lot of damage you give up main-handing this over the Shanker. The free, solo-able Shanker, that is.

Even though it is decent off hand, you would spend 500+ gold on it???? The Demon Blade of ... (green lvl 57) has equally good, if not better stat bonuses, is equal dmg to HS main-hand, and only gives up .1 speed and a few dps off-hand (remember off-hand loses dps anyways, so the difference is less than it seems). The main thing is, Demon Blade costs about 480 less gold. To me, choice between those is clear.

I'm still using Life-force Dirk off, which I am perfectly happy with - I'd far rather use the mone y for a Krol Blade or towards my epic mount.
