I recall in an ARR storyline after 2.0 (so either 2.1-2.5) It was mentioned who had taken over after Gaeus Van Baelsar and they showed him in a cutscene. He ha long hair I believe it was gray or black and he looked super old, he could pass for a vampire lol Infact he pretty much looked just like how Konami portrays Dracula in their castlevania games almost. Who was that guy?

Current leader of Garleans, Varis zos Galvus, aka Zenos's daddy. He didn't take over for him Gaius perse, since we took out basically everyone who stepped in to 'control' Eorzea by the end of Heavensward and if you did the warring triad primals, you actually kill who took over for Gaius.

Yup thats him. I only seen him once in game so I thought Zeno's WAS him... oh well.. looks like we dont get to get rid of the Final Boss just yet. Maybe next expansion. Im ready for a new enemy (preferably some "god like being" like Promathia) we've been talking about and fighting Garleans far too long. Speaking of new enemies. Speaking of which the Ascians have overstayed their welcome too. Im also ready to be done with them... Maybe by the end of SB 4.5 we'll get to close the book on them (or the Garleans) for good.

Yeah, we don't want a WoW where we do nothing but fight trolls, orcs and/or demons every expansion for the entire game's life. And now, there's Legion (partly why I quit WoW) which is nothing but demons. But in FFXIV, it is Garleans and Ascians. I hope that don't continue through the whole game and all of its expansions... blah. That would get real boring.

Hopefully we uncover something new to fight. I think I remember reading that SE intentionally shelved the Ascians for the most part because they know people were getting tired of them in mid-Heavensward, so they surely should see that having the same villain come back over and over again gets old after awhile.

Almost seems like the Omega storyline has potential to insert some new villain (maybe Omega itself?) for us to tangle with for awhile.

Though, to actually get rid of the Garleans, we'd have to actually go to Garlemald and right up to the throne which I feel would be a whole expansion in of itself.

Id be ok with marching right into Garlemald.. I mean how many FF games consisted of taking out evil empires? This wouldnt be ground that SE hasnt treaded a million times before already lol.

That, therein lies the problem.

Same old same old tropey stuff that we've been doing nearly every single Final Fantasy game to date.

The devs surely know the players are tired of seeing the repeat of the same tropes over and over and over and over again. I imagine that we will eventually walk into Garlemald, but hopefully it is after a good decent long session of doing anything but imperials.

What's the point of a duplicate post warning if you're going to duplicate post it anyways? Oi.

It's being worked on, which is why some of the dead branches of this old tree have been trimmed. Apparently most of the problem is that there are just too many posts.

Just report your double posts, it's what I do.
